hi there everyone! i've come to say that my mom has sadly prohibited me from using tumblr for a while, and i'm not sure when i'll come back, if i ever will, but i'll try to get back as soon as possible. one last armored core post for now— nobody ever talks about how coral is called ‘coral’. on the surface, you might not get why it’s clever, maybe they just thought the name was cool.

but coral- real life coral- are colonial organisms. there are solitary species of coral, but their reefs are more iconic. they love their own company, which is the exact wording Walter uses when describing rubicon’s coral.

not to mention coral has a symbiotic relationship with a species of algae- just like 621 and ayre.

it’s such a clever usage of coral and gosh darn it does that tickle my neurons

dunno where else to say it so. Kyo sonic au shit I’ve had rattling in my brain ;

- the eggman was created in a freak lab accident involving a chaos emerald; the radiation created a split personality in ivo robotnik, with the two struggling for control

- Metal sonic (prime) had a “good half” the ivo part installed- a conscience. Much like eggman, Metal sonic was plagued by contradicting directives… until, much like himself, eggman split metal in two

- sonic isn’t the Big Public Hero Number One. While he’s certainly heard of as the fastest thing alive (and Eggman’s archenemy), the freedom fighters get more recognition than him. Sonic doesn’t care but it drives eggman up the wall

- Angel island is still populated by echidnas, their Imperator being Ix. Knuckles fell from his home when he was young, and has been searching for a way back ever since

- the super special sonic search and smash squad is made up of Eggman’s three previous sonic robots; silver sonic, robo sonic, and led by mecha sonic. Though they have loyalties to eggman, they aren’t directly connected to the Eggnet like lesser badniks, only tuned into it like a radio station. It means they, most of the time, are off doing their own thing.

- sir Charles hedgehog takes in the good metal sonic after it flees from eggman, and helps repair him into shard. shard still has his combat functions, but would rather be part of rescue services like firefighters or extraction

- shadow is half-hedgehog, half-black arms. his power is unstable, and has to be held in check by his inhibitor belt. rouge is a former G.U.N. spy, and E-123 Omega is a violent cousin to robotnik’s E-Series robots. they answer to no authority, and help or harm whoever they want (though in the end, they’re ultimately a force of good)

- as I mentioned the e-series were built by robotnik (NOT eggman), and are instead learning robots meant to aid in research and sample gathering. Omega and Beta were both yoinked by eggman to create weapons, but only omega was able to escape his ultimate fate. Beta was robo-lobotomized. Gamma has learned to fight out of necessity, from Amy rose’ cousin Rob. He acts as a sniper instead of a front-liner.

- E-Merl is a lost echidna weapon that’s roamed the world for centuries. Despite being created with the capacity to destroy entire civilizations, E-Merl has a child-like personality and is easily roped into others’ schemes. The deception always ends in broken bones, however.

- G-Merl is an updated Gizoid designed by Shade. Like Gamma, he despises fighting- *unlike* gamma, he refuses to use any offensive weapons altogether. His most dangerous gadget is a taser.

- humans and anthro animals have been in contact for ages. The anthro animals (coined ‘mobians’) first called humans Overlanders, due to first contact being via crashing aircraft.

- the Black Arms are a roaming alien race, facing extinction. all they want is a home, but their way of life can be brutish and distressing. Shadow was created to be an envoy between the two worlds, but something happened to the Black Arms since then; they haven’t returned in 50 years. Shadow remains vigilant

- both shadow and Maria escaped the ark, but Maria’s disease caught up to her on earth. Shadow still holds his final promise to her. Due to being on earth for *much* longer than in canon, he’s come to understand both the good and evil in humanity. His greatest mission is to save the last living robotnik from his own alter ego.

- omega’s pissed all the time because eggman Fucked Up his reprogramming. Omega loves to make noise, be it from explosions or making actual music. He has more of a ‘bad boy’ persona than ‘DESTROY ALL EGGMAN ROBOTS’

- the chaotix are a much larger group, containing the duo of mighty and ray, alongside bomb and heavy. Knuckles is also an honorary member.

- if sonic could choose any adversary to keep personally, it’s the SSSSSS. mostly because they don’t really hate sonic, and their schemes and traps are always fun to evade.

- tails doesn’t know what pronouns are

uhh more kyo sonic au shit!! This time it’s team dark

i talked about shadow and omega in the previous Post but I wanted to talk about Things again;

- shadow is the creation of Doctor Gerald Robotnik and Black Lotus. His genome is 50% black arms, 46% mobian, and 4% human. The human part was from Maria to see if Gerald could find a way to cure her NIDS. The boots and wrist guards were given to him on the arc, while the jacket used to be Maria’s, and he has Warp Rings coiled around the boots and wrist guards.

- omega was the eggman’a first attempt to convert one of ivo’s e-series into a weapon… and he messed up the reprogramming, leaving omega permanently enraged. Rouge and Shadow helped him divert his anger away from those around him and into something else: his love for song, persisting even now. He has spiked bands and gold chains around his wrists, and a necklace, given to him by Rouge for extra Swag Energy. He attacks with sound waves, which makes it easy for him to hit a high-speed target.

- rouge herself is a former G.U.N. agent who ended up getting evicted. In part due to her kleptomaniac tendencies, but mostly due to her awareness of the system’s corruption. She tries to be a more Robin-hood like character… but she can’t help herself. She likes pretty things. She gave omega his bling and shares eyeliner with shadow

- both Maria and shadow escaped the ark fifty years ago, but Maria would end up dying to her disease due to the non-sterile environment speeding up the spread. Shadow has been roaming the world ever since, seeing both the good and bad in humanity. He’s well known within Westopolis’ struggling lower-class district, where he made frequent appearances in the fight against corruption and was generally just… nice. Nobody can stop him from making his own soup kitchen

- omega ostracized himself from his fellow E-Series, afraid of what they would think of him now. The only one who knows about his situation is Sigma, who helped remodel him into a more punk-like robot.

- rouge is Loaded. she helps pay for expenses and other Investments, like shadow’s soup kitchen and omega’s equipment. She has this big ass manor, but can’t live in it because all of them are Wanted By The Government

- they’re known to the public as the band “DARC”, Omega’s idea for his Rage Outlet. Their music contains anti-militarism (aka Anti-G.U.N.) themes, as well as identity and self-empowerment. You can guess who wrote each song depending on the overall mood; rouge’s are passionate and playful, shadow’s are somber, and omega’s are Rage Incarnate.

- shadow has his own Eye like Black Lotus, and that scoundrel Black Doom. Due to his altered genome, Shadow’s Eye (affectionately nicknamed ‘Jug’) has a much different appearance from Lotus’ and Doom’s eye; only three tentacles, and a primarily red body with three black-red ‘shadow stripes’. It’s housed inside shadow’s top quill (forming the stripe), and often opens when shadow focuses his chaos abilities

- omega and rouge based their ‘shoes’ on shadow’s air shoes. They’re boots designed to reduce friction by generating a thin layer of air between the soles and the ground… they were commonplace on the ark, but were commandeered by G.U.N. during their invasion and redesigned into dangerous, blast-jumping footwear. They were quickly shelved.

- though ultimately a force for good, their methods can be a bit unsavory. Shadow isn’t afraid to put G.U.N.’s “animals” down, for instance. Omega has no qualms with total sonic annihilation if it means taking down eggman with him. And rouge is rouge.
