Kyougai: your sounds keep getting off-key

Uzui: did you do something to Kyougai

Tanjirou: more like I didn't do anything

Uzui: as expected, not the weirdest thing I've heard, but not quite something I would enjoy

I know he is not popular but... Can we get some headcanons for Kyogai? With a human or recently turned demon (who is not much into eatting humans because doesnt want to hurt them but still need to eat or something) that is a fan of his writting and drum music and really enjoy it?

You are a relatively new demon

Shy and very quiet, much like Kyougai

In fact, he doesn’t even notice that you had snuck into his home until he enters a room one day and spots you sitting there with some papers in your hands

His papers. His writing.

You freeze at the sight of him, and he glares, confused and annoyed at the sight of another demon living in his home, touching his things

“You …”

“A-Ah! Please – I’m s-so sorry for intruding, I just – I was so hungry, and then I just s-saw these papers strewn all over the place …!”

He should throw you out. Slice you up, teach you a thing or two about intruding into someone’s living space without asking

But then you speak again, so soft he can barely hear you

“It’s been a while since I’ve been able to read something, a-and these poems and stories … they’re quite wonderful.”

Kyougai stiffens.

At his silence, you appear to panic and scramble for more words

“I … I wanted to study literature but my parents never let me! I love reading, you see, a-and reading all of this … it’s comforting. They’re concise and gentle and neatly written a-and, um, they remind me of my life before I became a … a …”

You fold up into yourself, clutching his writing closer as you become quieter and quieter

It’s very clear that you’re terrified of him, despite being a demon yourself

But that pales in comparison to your words

“You … you like my writing?”

You nod, looking down

So Kyougai ends up letting you stay.

For some reason after your first encounter, you start to follow him around, still very quiet, listening to his drum music and eating his leftovers

(He notices that you never partake in actually killing the humans yourself)

Despite being unused to company, your presence doesn’t irritate him, so he lets you slink around while he goes about his business

Eventually, you finally speak up again and ask him about a piece of his writing

Your question strikes a strange chord in him. He answers it cautiously, still unsure as to whether your interest is genuine or out of fear

You ask more questions after that, though – and they’re thoughtful questions, serious questions, and it’s hard to believe that you would make such queries if you weren’t truly interested

At some point, you begin to walk alongside him rather than behind, and Kyougai finds himself not minding that either

You seem to like him. He’s not stupid. But the notion is so ridiculous and inconceivable that he chooses not to acknowledge it, appreciating your companionship as it is

Spending time with you makes it harder to ignore, though

Never before had Kyougai met a demon who seems so kind

So human

(Perhaps it’s because of how recently you’ve been turned)

And it has been a long, long time since he was last treated so civilly – and a long, long time since he felt a connection to someone else

So when you lean against him one day, tentative and silent, while the two of you are sitting with his writings splayed out in front of you, Kyougai lets you remain

Perhaps this is what acceptance is like.

Perhaps this is what being loved is like.
