I wanted to give them different crests than the ones in the Digimon anime, hence the random set of names that clearly lack consistency, forgive me for that.
For Tyson I picke Loyalty, because I think that's not just his strongest trait but also his fatal flaw. He believes in his friend too much, to the point that he ties his existence to how useful he can be to others and is in turn not loyal to his own self worth. Getting past the obstacle of learning to moderate how he is loyal to his beliefs and to the people he cares about is what would help him evolve.
For Kai I really did want to pick Courage, but I went with Perseverance. The intention of the word here is to show that even if he does lose his way or make wrong decisions, he never wavers from the resolve he made. He will stick through his decision and see it to the end, and persevere the consequences till he can be the best version of himself. I picked Vorvomon line for him because honestly while Hououmon is apt counterpart for Suzaku, but I cannot imagine Kai next to Piyomon (he'd slit its throat fr ) 🤣
Rei and Max are two crests which are pretty self explanatory. For Rei I was going to pick Baihumon as the end evolution but when I put BanchoLeomon behind him, I just thought that they looked way too cool together. But yes Baihumon is pretty much Byakko in Digimon form, someday I will rectify this mistake 😌
Hilary gets empathy because just like with Tyson, I think this is something that she needs to learn to excercise with restraint. While being able to understand others and connecting with them emotionally is a great trait to have, we often see her blurt out statements which sound right for the situation only to her, and do more damage than provide comfort. So yes, she wants to help others but she can be overbearing with her kindness, so learning to understand and accept how the other person is feeling is what she needs to grow stronger. Also Empathy and Loyalty go hand in hand and I totally did not mean anything by that.
Chief gets intuition because while he's smart and Knowledge/Wisdom would've fit him perfectly, he's also shown to want to get practical and put himself forward in the middle of the action, which you can only get better at by relying on your intuition.
Daichi's crest of Abundance is somewhat similar in meaning to Light. He has the quality to motivate others when they're at the limits, his energy and hopefulness is always overflowing. He is sort of like the grounding last piece of the group, so when it feels like all hope might be lost, his positively spirited actions will still keep the group afloat and give them the strength to keep pushing forward.

Star Trek AU! Headcanons under the cut!
Captain Takao Kinomiya- The youngest son of a long line of decorated Starfleet Captains. With a mother killed in action, a father away exploring the furthest reaches of the galaxy and a brother who rejected the family legacy to disappear off-planet; Takao enrolls in Starfleet Academy eager to make friends and prove himself. He quickly rises up the ranks to become Captain, beloved by his crew.
Commander Manubu 'Kyouju' Saien- Chief Science Officer- Takao's intelligent First Officer, a childhood friend who followed him into space rather than taking up any of the university offers he received to his family's horror. He considers it his self appointed task to keep the Captain out of trouble as much as possible, but can be coaxed into adventures with enough interesting data.
Lieutenant Max Mizuhara- Helmsman and Tactical Officer- The son of Judy Mizuhara, the president of a private scientific organisation; he enrolled in Starfleet after hearing accusations of nepotism one too many times. He bonds with his Academy roommate Takao, and is delighted to stay with him as they head into space. Famed for his clever defensive maneuvers in battle, he's a very talented pilot.
Lieutenant Rei Kon- Tactical and Navigations Officer- Born of a traditional clan with no love for space travel, Rei spent his childhood secretly charting stars and watching Starships cross the night sky. He flees the night before his eighteenth birthday, before the ceremonies that would bind him forever, and enrolls in Starfleet. A natural explorer, his quick instincts also make him indispensable in a fight.
Commander Kai Hiwatari- Chief Security Officer- The heir to the large and wealthy Hiwatari Enterprises, a merchant company with ties to the military; Kai runs away from home after causing a catastrophe at one of the labs that he cannot truly remember. Takao's biggest competition for the rank of Captain, he becomes one of his greatest friends and protectors.
LT Commander Hiromi Tachibana- Chief of Operations and Comms Officer- Another of Takao's childhood friends, she enrolls in Starfleet a year late after being inspired hearing Takao and Kyuoju's stories. Catching up on pure merit, she graduates in time to join the new group of friends on their first adventure. Determined to prove herself dependable, she has to learn to depend on them too.

Retired Captain Ryunosuke Kinomiya- A kind but animated old man who retired to care for his grandson when his daughter-in-law passed away. He raised Takao basically single handedly, and is delighted to provide a home to this group of runaways when they're on shore leave.
Admiral Kogoro Daitenji- A well meaning but scheming official that sees the potential in people before others. He visits his fellow captain Ryunosuke, intending to inspire Takao to follow his heart into space. He develops a soft spot for this group and petitions for them to be placed together on a starship once its clear how well they work together.

When he first introduces himself, he's known only as "Kyouju". Real name arrives later. He needed time to think about it, as that day was the first real outing as a boy. Given name is Fumiko Saien;
Takao and Manabu are in the same school in V Force, and I would assume they were in the previous years as well. But when they meet on the top of that building, Takao seems to not know who he is. That's because he was still trying to pass the previous years. Kyouju actually already knows Takao and his fame because he observed him at school;
Hiromi actually knows about this, and it's the very first secret she kept, because it was too important;
No one knows until GRev, when they go out camping, and it comes out by mistake (they played a truth-or-dare game, and he was asked, "If you were to reincarnate into someone else, would you want a boy or a girl body?" "A boy's... waIT--".) He just decides to explain everything after that;
Big glasses were a choice after he broke his previous ones and wanted something to better hide his eyes. Long bangs did the rest;
Takao actually had a crush on him when he tried to pass. Then, one day, "Fumiko" disappeared, and Manabu was there. He never connected the dots... luckly...;
Kai had some suspicion, but it was more of the "he's hiding something" kind;
He actually hacked the BBA database to submit fake documents before they left for the World Championship. No one ever found out;
Everyone accepts him because well... it's Kyouju!! Case closed! Just.. don't let a certain CEO find it out...
