how does one use 드릴까요? what does it mean?

“Should I give to you?”

When you want to give/bring something to someone.

For example, at a restaurant, the waiter might ask you: “포크를 드릴까요?” “Should I bring/give you a fork?”

Or if you’re offering to bring someone water: “물을 갔다 드릴까요?” “Should I bring you water?”

What’s does this mean? 좋아요가 안눌리넹

Can I ask the translation of dates? I'm getting them tattoos in Korean and don't want to get them wrong. 4-8-1990 and 12-18-2017 (I'm sorry if you know why) if you can, thank you so much.

Anyways, I assume you’re wanting to do Korean text of the numbers/dates, haha. So in Korean, we put the year, then the month, then the day (so, order = year, month, day). I’ll do it both ways (the way we would say it in Korean and literally just translating the dates in the American order), and you can just pick whichever you like. 천구백구십구년 사월 팔일 - 이천십칠년  십이월 십팔일 (1990/4/8 - 2017/12/18)

사월 팔일천구백구십구년 - 십이월 십팔일이천십칠년 (4/8/1990-12/18/2017)

년 = year월 = month일 = day

So if you’d rather go with the numbers, you could just do: 1990년4월8일 - 2017년12월18일.

What does 생겼어, 생각해, and 길이나mean? Also, when making a sentence with a conjunction, is it the same in Korean where in English two sentences are separated with a conjunction? (I like food AND I hate water.)

생겼어: Looks like

생각해: Think

길이나: Depends on context because this can be length or path (just two definitions that immediately what came to mind).

Well, that’s an interesting question. Yeah, basically. You can do the same thing. Taking your example (I like food AND I hate water), that would translate into 나는 음식을 좋아 하고 나는 물은 싫다. You wouldn’t really repeat the “I” because it’s unnecessary. 하고 is almost like 해요 + 그리고 (and/also).

Right? So in English, you were combining I like food + I hate water. In Korean, you’d combine 나는 음식을 좋아요 + 나는 물을 싫어요. The “and” = 그리고. You can eliminate the second “I” in both English and Korean (나). So you could write quite literally 나는 음식을 좋아요 그리고 나는 물을 싫어요, like you said, but it could come out a bit strange and redundant. I hope this makes sense.

Nothing in korean

This is actually kind of difficult–we don’t really have a single “nothing” word. It really depends on the context.

For example, if you’re trying to say “it is nothing”, as in it’s not a problem or that it actually is nothing, 아무것도 않이다. 

If you’re trying to say that someone is doing nothing, you would say “아무것도 하지 않다.”

And if you’re trying to say that there is nothing to do or nothing is going on in your life, you could say “아무일도 없다.”
