I don’t post regularly and I feel bad for it. But I have a life outside of Tumblr and I’m only human. I forget things.

Y'know what bugs me?

One among many, really. But this is the most recent.

When yer trying to repair the relationship between you and yer dad, but he was a real jerk during the divorce and just doesn't understand that yer upset at him fer what he did to you, not mom (cuz u didn't pick sides, or at least u didn't mean to, but really the behaviour is shit).

So he drops in before you gotta leave and yer running a little late (which you planned for, actually), so you give both parents a hug and ritualistic "love you, bye" which you totally mean by the way, tyvm. Mom returns it just fine, but then again she's used to yer shenanigans.

But dad?

Nope. Just stands there like a frigging statue that doesn't understand emotions and is confused as to why yer hugging him and shit and it's so obvious YOU notice it right away.

And I'm like, socially blind. I've gotten better, but any and all social cues I have I've had to learn and observe consciously.

And y'know, that was a genuine show of affection despite being a prick, ya prick. Dad's still dad. Despite him not being the best person.

(He doesn't understand being family and friends either but that's a TOTALLY different rant.)

Ok, I'm done. Imma go do life stuff.
