This is the end of L.A. Girlfriend. And she's going out with a bang...

Deciding to retire the moniker, Sydney Banta will begin releasing music under her real name (stylised as SIDNĒ). Until then, her new video for 'Is Freedom' makes for a beautiful parting gift to fans, the singer bathed in a moody array of colours while leaving us on a rather poignant note: 'If heartbreak is freedom, I'll fly like the wind...'

L.A. GIRLFRIEND : IS FREEDOM

L.A. Girlfriend’s new single ‘Is Freedom’ is all about freedom… kinda.

The US singer lays her clean, sharp vocals atop a hypnotic, pulsing beat and squelchy 80s pop synths, sampling Nocera’s ‘Summertime, Summertime’ as she revels in an aching heart ('If heartbreak is freedom/I’d do it again...'). Because it's better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all, right?
