Scene One;
Gabriel: Walking into the building, Gabriel felt his stomach drop when he saw his brother's lawyers all staring him down as if he were some sort of criminal. All eyes on him until he finally hit the elevator and he was alone to breathe. Or rather hyperventilate since he wasn't sure if his brother would even allow him to join the firm. Of course he had a perfect reason for the needed job but he also knew his brother well enough to know he cherished his precious law firm more than his own family. Once the elevator stopped, he stepped out, looked around and headed for his brother's office, slamming right into his little hazel eye'd hunter. He was cute, and from the impact, he could tell he was strong, so he knew he'd have fun with this one. "Well excuse me." he huffed, trying to play dumb while trying to balance himself. "You should watch where you're walking, pup."
Sam: Sam loved interning at Reining Law, while also studying law at Stanford University, but being under Zachariah's tutelage wasn't all sunshine and roses. The man could be a real hard ass on a good day. Two months of this torture was enough for Sam to go to Micheal, CEO of the law firm, to discuss interning under someone else. In his midst to Micheal's office, Sam was too caught up in thinking of what he'd say to be paying attention to where he was going. One moment he's striding down the hall and the next he's colliding into another body, stumbling back a bit. "Sorry, sorry!.." Sam has to look down some at the man before him. First thing he notices are his eyes, a gorgeous golden brown. "Are you okay...?"
Gabriel: Gabriel rolls his eyes and crosses his arms over his chest before looking the taller man over, checking out his dark suit and his ruffled, post collision mop of hair. "I'm fine. Just in a hurry to see the CEO about a job. Where are you headed with your mind in the clouds, kid?" he raised a brow then looked towards his brother's office, noting the door was opened a crack, meaning he was alone and not in a meeting.
Sam: "I was actually just on my way to talk to the CEO too." Sam runs a hand through his disheveled hair, smoothing it out as best he could then straightens out his suit that his girlfriend Jessica had insisted upon buying him. She had stated that he needed a suit that actually fit him properly, where the sleeves weren't too short and didn't make him look like he'd outgrown it. "And 'm not a kid." he stated, looking at the shorter man expectantly.
Gabriel: "Well you look younger than I am so to me, you're a kid, kid." Gabriel chuckled before shrugging and heading towards his brother's office once again. Maybe he could actually make it this time without bumping into anyone else. "And he's not busy, so now's the perfect time to poke at the angry beast. Come on." he told Sam, waving him along a few feet away from Micheal's door.
Sam: With a huff of annoyance and a roll of his eyes, because he was so not a kid thank you very much, Sam trails after the man. Just as he was about to knock on Micheal's door the older man bursts it open, causing Sam to stare wide eyed and mouth agape. So much for being able to talk to a happy and in a good mood boss man.
Gabriel: Gabriel greets his elder brother with a gleeful smiles, sliding gracefully into one of the chairs in front of Micheal's desk. "So, I hear you've gained a good number of clients compared to Lu. How do you do it, Mikey?" he let his spine fall lax in the soft chair, relaxing to have a conversation with Micheal. He then realized Sam was still a wide eye'd pup in the door way and peeked over to him, patting the chair beside him for Sam to sit as well.
Sam: Okay, what in the Hell was this dude on, barging in the CEO's office and talking as if he knew him? That was not the way to get a job plus it was a sure fire way to get his boss pissed. Now he wasn't so sure about asking to be switched from interning with Zachariah. Sam was teetering on the edge of deciding to walk back out the door and come back another time, when Mr. Crazy urged him to take a seat. Only after glancing from Micheal to Gabriel four or five times did Sam reluctantly take the seat beside Mr. Crazy.
Micheal: Micheal turned himself around to face his obnoxious little brother then rolled his eyes, keeping his expression flat for the most part. "And to what do I owe such a displeasure, Gabriel?" he asked before noticing one of his interns had also come in. "Why aren't you working?" he asked Sam pointedly.
Gabriel: Gabriel grinned and leaned forward in his chair before letting out a small sigh. "I need a job. You know I'm a hell of a good lawyer and I'd rather be working here than with Lu. What do you say?" he asked, leaning back again before smiling over to the puppy dog boy.
Sam: Sam patiently waited for Gabriel to finish speaking before answering Micheal. "Oh well, I um, was hoping to ask you if I could possibly...maybe..intern with someone else.....?" He shrugged slightly, nervous on how his boss would react to such a request.
Micheal: With a sigh, Micheal mirrored Gabriel in leaning forward then looked between the two men in his office before falling back against his seat again. "Gabriel, you take the corner office with the double desks. Sam, you move your things into the office I just gave him. You'll work with him. Now get out of my office, both of you." he waved the two off before turning his chair back to finish enjoying his interrupted lunch.
Gabriel: Smiling, Gabriel stood up and looked down on his new play toy... or charge, whichever made heaven feel better about calling him. "Looks like you're with me, kid. Let's go." he teased, moving swiftly to the door and looking around at the hustle of secretaries who were busy with making copies or getting drinks for someone. This was going to be fun to have a little lawyer slave.
Sam: As glad as Sam was to be out from under Zachariah's ruling he wasn't too sure what to think about being this Gabriel dude's intern. He however didn't voice such thoughts before rushing out of Micheal's office and booking it to gather his things and also tell Zachariah of his change. Giving his notice went about as well as could be expected....the man was furious. In the middle of boxing up his belongings, Sam noticed Zachariah storming off, towards Micheal's office no doubt.
Gabriel: As soon as Gabriel got into the office, he huffed at the emptiness of which he found. "This is not going to do at all..." he plopped down in the large chair, noticing the title on his door being 'senior partner'. Micheal was in a good mood today obviously. With another look around, he tsk'd and snapped his fingers, conjuring up a few fake plants and some wall decor to brighten the dull room. The last step was a name plate for his desk and with another snap, one appeared. It was shiny and gold, his name bold and dominate on the plate. He could learn to deal with the office now at least.
Sam: Today was obviously full of surprises. Sam stood, box of his meager belongings in his arms, in the doorway of his and Gabriel's office. He was in total shock to see it somewhat decorated. "...Wasn't this office totally empty...?" Sam slowly made his way to what he assumed was his desk and set the box onto said desk.
Gabriel: "I had someone bring my things along with me. Mikey can never say no to me." Gabriel chuckled as he placed his name plate in just the right spot on his desk before getting up and moving to stand next to Sam. "So how did your ex partner take the break up? Did he cry?" he chuckled before mocking fear. "Is he going to beat me up?”
Sam: Sam just stares at Gabriel incredulously for a good brief moment before he begins unpacking the box and states, "He was pissed. Saw him storming off to Micheal's office as I got my things."
Gabriel: "Mmn... well, I'm sure he'll be fine." he grins, hopping up to sit on Sam's desk and cross his legs. "So what schedule did he have you on? Every day after two?" he asks, looking over the belongings on the younger man's desk, eyeing a photo of a pretty blonde girl who looked to be Sam's girlfriend.
Sam: "Something like that. I'm in my final two weeks of college. I have classes from nine to one every day but Thursday. Thursday is my night class so I can work during the day if you need me to." Was Sam's reply as he moves the now empty box onto the floor beside his desk. He'd take that to the trash on his way out the door.
Gabriel: "I can work with that." Gabriel nodded, climbing down from the desk and walking to his chair. "Did Zachariah have you on any certain clients or do I have to talk to Micheal about giving me a handful to give me a start?"
Sam: "You will probably have to go to Micheal. I was never allowed to deal hands on with any of his clients." Sam held a little bit of resentment towards Zachariah for that, treating him like some slave instead of showing him the ropes. How was he supposed to learn what he was going to school for if all he did was slave labor?
Gabriel: "Well that'll change. No worries there. How about your first errand be to go get a few client files from Micheal. Tell him I prefer domestic cases and nothing too violent. Those get messy." he smiles to Sam, sitting down and opening his laptop to sign in. He knew his brother well enough to know he was already in the system so it wasn't a big deal.
Sam: With a curt nod and an "Alright I'll be right back." Sam heads back to the CEO's office. Ten minutes later and Sam is holding a few files out to Gabriel. "Here you go sir. Nothing violent but there is a divorce case in there." He had heard how badly divorces could get. Hopefully this one didn't turn ugly.
Gabriel: "Oooh! Divorce is always fun. You get to hear everyone's dirty little secrets." he practically giggles with glee, taking the files and opening the top one, peeking at the gory details. "Hmm... Mr.Shirley is with this firm now? He was with Lu's last I checked. Maybe Micheal played his ever so famous charm." he snorted.
Sam: "You know Mr. Shirley?" Sam's curiosity was piqued. Seemed as if Gabriel knew just about everyone. He moved to sit behind his desk, straightening the framed picture of Jessica.
Gabriel: "Yep. He's quite the catch as a client. Pays well and pays in cash." he nodded and put the files on his desk before going back to the laptop in front of him, doing a quick search of Chuck Shirley to show Sam. "This guy right here." he turned the computer to Sam and pointed at a disheveled looking man with a tiny blonde woman next to him. "He's an author. Famous for some syfy-horror books that apparently suck according to most of my contacts."
Sam: Sam leans forward in his chair to get a better look at the picture. "How do you know him?" The man in the picture looked as though, to Sam, as if he drank too much. He also had a feeling these two were together for all the wrong reason in the first place.
Gabriel: Gabriel snorts and turns the laptop back to face him, closing the search and opening the office email system. "We used to be drinking buddies until that little blonde came into his life and ruined our friendship. She forbid him to go out drinking. Now if he drinks, it's at home, alone."
Sam: "So, is there anything that you need me to do right now?" Sam noticed a change in topic might be best at the moment. Besides he honestly had nothing to do since he and Gabriel just started working together.
Gabriel: "Well, it's almost time to head home. You can leave if you'd like and we can go through the details of these files tomorrow." he stood up and straightened his jacket before stepping around his desk, leaning slightly on it and crossing his arms over his chest.
Sam: "That works. Tomorrow is Thursday so I can be in at whatever time you need me to." Sam was used to being in super early while interning for Zachariah on Thursdays so if he needed to be in early for Gabriel that wouldn't be a problem.
Gabriel: "How does ten-ish work for you? I'm not a stickler on time like most people are." he smiled, holding out a newly conjured golden watch. "Take this. It'll ensure that you'll be worry-less while working with me."
Sam: "I...I can't take that." Eyes huge for the third time that day, Sam stands and grabs his back pack from under his desk. "That had to cost a lot..." It was one thing for Jessica to buy him a new suit he needed but a whole other for someone, who he just met mind you, to just give him something super expensive. His whole childhood had been filled with either hand-me-downs or thrift store stuff. This situation was a little out of his comfort zone.
Gabriel: "You're looking at someone who could give a man a house and not think twice about it. Don't insult me. Just take the watch, pup." he shoved it towards the taller male a bit, insisting he took his gift.
Sam: Sam reluctantly took the watch and put it on his left wrist. "Thank you." He gave a small lopsided smile as he slung his backpack over his right shoulder.
Gabriel: "Right then. So I'll see you in the morning." he smiled back, giving his new intern a wink before sliding back behind his desk and opening a file to start the input of his newly appointed clients. Sure he could have Sam stay and do it or at least help but he needed Sam to like and trust him.
Sam: Sam couldn't stop looking at his new watch from time to time on his way home, to the apartment he shared with Jessica. It boggled his mind that someone could be that kind to a person they had just met. Sam felt he could maybe trust Gabriel even though he seemed a tad odd at times. Only thing was, how he was brought up by his father, he constantly kept his guard up no matter how well he knew a person. Only time would tell if Gabriel was trustworthy enough.
Gabriel: Gabriel stayed at the office well past time for him to go home, inputting the files manually rather than just zap them into the system. It would be noticed by Micheal and he would be reprimanded for using his powers on his human work. Once he finished, he closed the laptop and headed out to his Mustang GT to head home. He thought about the watch when he pulled into his drive way and pulled his phone out, opening an app and pressing 'un-mute' only to hear silence other than a fan and rustling of what he assumed was bed sheets. His watch was working perfectly.
