BAR REVIEW: Fellow (Westwood Village)

Fellow (on Glendon in the heart of Westwood Village) is a hot restaurant, based on the buzz we've been hearing (and reading) for some time. But you may not know that they have an excellent bar as well. I had the pleasure of spending a few minutes there tonight (not a planned visit, but rather an impromptu pop-in), and quite enjoyed it. Fellow’s founder and owner Philip greeted me as I peeked in and was extremely warm and welcoming. The bartender Will was great as well -- friendly, knowledgeable, and fun to watch as he made a number of drinks before my eyes -- including the one I tried, a cool concoction based around Bourbon Cream (a relative of Irish Cream, one of my favorite libations). A creamy, delicious delight!
I highly recommend you come by and try out Fellow’s bar, because based on my interactions with Philip and Will, I know you will enjoy the experience. And by the way, I love the names of the drinks on the menu (sense of humor scores big points with us here at LA Newsline) -- just check out these creative names for starters: "You Had Me at Fellow", "Buzz Lively", "Zero Fashioned" (all from their "No A.B.V." section of the beverage menu), and the one I am most curious about, “MIAMI VICE MILK PUNCH” (the menu leaves the ingredients a mystery, encouraging you to ask if you don’t know what it is --- next time I will!). They have a solid assortment of beverages and even a “For Two” libation section. Which leads me to another point: Fellow is a perfect place for a date --- subdued lighting, calm relaxed atmosphere, and even heat lamps if you choose to dine al fresco (they have a few tables in front of the restaurant).
I look forward to going back soon and experiencing the bar again (tonight was just a very quick first visit), as well as finally experiencing Fellow’s food, which has received raves (Eater LA, for example, gave their burger an outstanding rating, and I can’t wait to see if I agree; I have a feeling this fellow will).
