Meet the owners, Karina and Ingo, two new Vancouverites who have opened a dreamy little boutique on Water Street.

Tell us a bit about your shop.

Our Shop is a unique fashion boutique, with shoes, clothing and accessories all from Europe.

What’s behind the name La Differencia?

Our boutique name is spanish, which is where most our products are sourced from. It also means “the different” — which is what we are about.

Why did you guys choose to move from the East Coast to Vancouver?

We chose to move from the east coast because we found there is a lot of culture here. We were looking at many different places in Canada to find the right location, which was not easy. Here in Gastown we found everything that we needed to run a successful business. Gastown offers a lot, from tourists to local people, as well as nice atmosphere, good restaurants and so much more. We love it. We didn’t even change a lot with the space. We saw the potential in this unit. We were giving our fantasy the freedom and this is the result.

What kind of influence does your German background have on your personal style?

Well we are born in Germany but we are not typical Germans. We are more international. We are Different!

What are some of the brands you carry?

Some of our shoe brands are Fly London, Eject, Prophecy, and Dkode, to name a few. Some of our clothing brands are Cream, Dolcezza, Samuel Dong, Kapalua, Cristina Rej, and Mondo. And so much more. We also carry accessories from Storm London, Just Cavali, Miss Sixty, and Danish Design.
