I was waffling about going to La Birria’s food truck on the first day they opened since I knew the line would be long but saw this on my social media time line so much I wanted it. Plus I didn’t get my good Mexican food fix in LA this past summer so I was desperate and caved. The line was long for almost half an hour before they officially opened. They had local media sampling their food under a tent while the rest of us were waiting in line to buy. I was talking to this older woman Gayle next to me who said she knew the owner who told her to come around 10:30 am. So she went over to the media tent, and she indeed got a sampler. But Gayle came back and told me she was giving me one. So she took hers and dipped it once then left me with the box and the other one. So thanks for the sample, Gayle. The tortilla tasted fresh so that was a plus. The consommé was a broth. So waited some more until was my turn. I waited in line about 90 minutes before ordering and getting my order. The agua fresca was like a refreshing pineapple drink. The horchata was a nice creamy sweet rice drink. The saimin was decent - noodles chewy, the broth was basically the consommé and there were good sized slices of beef brisket. The Birria Queso pack was 3 Birria tacos with cheese and consommé. I really liked the tortilla. Dipping the taco into the consommé made the tortilla and meat a little softer. It wasn’t cheap but was good to support local small business. Worth trying but wouldn’t wait in a 90 minute line again. I’d probably tell my dad to get it on a week day when less of a crowd than the weekend. Support Local! 👏🤙 P.S. - the owner’s mother helped me carry my food to the car because I had the drinks, saimin and tacos. She was an older woman who was nice and patient. I really appreciated her carrying my stuff to the car with me. #labirria #labirriatacos (at Pearlridge Center) https://www.instagram.com/p/CGdoBxQDjuO/?igshid=1g7dqhf3ie7vr
