Seventy-five children from Bacag Elementary School received a schoolbag filled with essential items they will need for the school year - notebooks, pencils, ruler, raincoat, water bottle, and lunchbox. Leaving the walls of Poblacion Lacub behind, we set off for the 7km, two and a half hour hike to Bacag. Volunteer parents from the barangays of Lablabinag, Bacag and Guinguinabang met our jeepney laden with school supplies which had to be manually carried all the way to the 75 pupil Elementary school in Bacag. There are no roads to this part of Abra, walking along the Binongan River trail is the only way in and out.
