@labonheiraes SENT : "you're not a very convincing liar."
His face was flushed with warmth that did not quite surface in colour, the hues of his cheeks a sufficient mask to the human eye, though he was sure his heart beat was more than telling to her attuned ear. She could read him so easily before, but now she had all the additional advantages that came with being a vampire, and none of the tact that came with having her humanity. He knew she used to feign ignorance or simply overlook a moment here or there, but this version of Hope, the Hope that was not his, had no inclination towards padding his feelings. All told, it wasn’t one of her worst qualities -- he took greater issue with her bottomless blood lust than with her bad attitude.
"But I’m not as dumb as you think I look,” he countered, taking a wide step sideways, putting himself directly in her path. Ease found its way back into his shoulders, his stance slackened but still ready. He always had to be on his guard around her now, no matter the situation. Her mood could flip in an instant, a red cloud coming over her eyes. If he could keep her like this, playful, if one could call murderous joy playful, he could keep her in check, if only for a little while. It was when she seemed pissed -- again, it was hard for him to accurately identify any of her emotions in this state -- that real trouble surfaced.
“Fine, okay? I admit it. Yeah, I’d do anything to get you to flip the switch back on. You said when you turned off your humanity that you’d have to leave. So? You came back. Which means you do care, whether you like it or not.”
