8760 W. Sunset Boulevard aka Mutato Muzika aka the Beauty Pavilion- Architect unknown, speculated to have been designed by @oscarniemayerworks- 1967⠀ ⠀ #keenanmilton @ginoiannuccipoets and #erikpupecki “Roomies” part from @411vm 38, 2000⠀ ⠀ Originally built in 1967, the “Beauty Pavilion” was commissioned by the well-known Hollywood cosmetic surgeon Dr. Richard Franklyn, author of many books including “Developing Bosom Beauty” (seriously!), and a huge fan of the Brazilian architect Oscar Niemayer, who by then had already completed many of his most famous, monumental works in Brazil such as the National Congress Building, Federal Court, and Presidential Palace, as well as the UN headquarters in New York. This unverified sketch can be found online, though no architect is listed on the building permit.⠀ ⠀ It is often also referred to as the “Green Forum”, in reference to the LA Forum (later Great Western Forum), completed that same year, by Charles Luckman, who also designed Madison Square Garden, which opened just one year later in 1968.⠀ ⠀ The building’s interesting cast of characters has continued to this day, as it currently houses Mark Mothersbaugh’s Mutato Muzika production company.⠀ ⠀ #losangelesarchitecture⠀ #laconservancy⠀ #mutatomuzika⠀ #keenanforever⠀ #chocolateskateboards⠀ (at Los Angeles, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/B_QbynOlXKb/?igshid=xmny50z9q4hg

One of my favorite Los Angeles traditions is #LastRemainingSeats, a program of classic films in old Downtown movie and theater palaces. Tonight, it’s The Maltese Falcon at Million Dollar Theater.
