Feufollet
Common Name: Fae
Other Names: Griffinfolk, Ladderborn
Guardian Domain: Space, distance, and traversal between worlds
Sacred Metal: Iron
Realm of Origin: Elphame / The Ladder of Worlds
Overview
The Feufollet are the guardians of space itself—the keepers of distance, momentum, and passage between realms. Where others walk or dream, the Fae move. They were not made for stillness. Their bodies, cultures, and magic are shaped around flight, resonance, and the delicate mathematics of motion.
Among the seven guardian races, they are the most visibly non-human and the most visibly free.
Physical Appearance
Feufollet are lean, light-boned, and aerodynamic, built entirely around flight.
Wings: Large, avian wings; size, shape, and feather pattern vary by lineage
Tail: Long, thin, feather-tipped; species-specific and essential for balance
Hair & Skin: Always coincide with wing and tail coloration
Coloration: As diverse as bird species—falcon golds, crow black, kingfisher blues, snowy whites, iridescent greens
Ears: Long and sharply pointed
Horns: Rare, discreet, and tied to unusual bloodlines or resonance sensitivity
Their avian lineage is instantly recognizable. No two Fae look alike unless they share ancestry.
Physiology & Senses
Feufollet biology is hyper-specialized:
Extremely fast reflexes and reaction times
Extraordinary hearing, sensitive to wide frequency ranges
A Fae can hear minute sounds from miles away, even through environmental noise
Vision optimized for speed, altitude, and long-distance navigation
Light skeletal structure allowing sustained flight and burst acceleration
Each lineage excels differently—some in soaring endurance, others in explosive speed, water-adjacent maneuvering, or precise hovering.
Abilities
Fae do not simply fly—they manipulate space through movement.
Common abilities include:
Spatial acceleration (appearing to “vanish” or blur)
Short-range space warping through speed and resonance
Ladder traversal and rung repair
Enhanced aerial combat and scouting
Their power does not come from brute force, but from velocity, precision, and timing.
Culture
Feufollet society is shaped by motion and resonance rather than territory.
Lineage is identified visually through wings and coloration
Feathers are sacred; damage or loss carries deep symbolic weight
Architecture is vertical, open, and resonant
Music, vibration, and harmonic engineering are culturally central
They value freedom, skill, and adaptability, but struggle with grounding and permanence. Stillness feels unnatural to them.
Temperament
Fae are quick-witted, restless, and emotionally guarded.
They tend to:
Avoid stagnation and confinement
Use humor, speed, or bravado to deflect vulnerability
Form deep bonds slowly, but fiercely once attached
Outsiders often mistake them as flighty or unreliable. In truth, the Fae are deeply loyal—just unwilling to be caged.
Role in the Serpent Calling
As guardians of space, the Feufollet maintain the Ladder of Worlds, ensuring passage between realms remains possible. Schaccath’s manipulation of purity, resonance, and exclusion strikes directly at their core—turning motion into restriction and freedom into control.
