VERYYY SILLY blurb idk i miss these two and i love them very dearlyy
It had been approximately 8 hours after the RCB team acheived their second WPL trophy, Smriti leading from the front with the support of her team. The players of other teams apart from the obvious Delhi Capitals were all at their homes or with their loved ones watching the final or probably not, Smriti did not know or cared about that.
The only thing she cared about was, in her hotel room there was a person sitting, waiting, just for her. It had been quite a task smuggling them in without her teammates noticing the very vivid blonde hair which was poorly hidden by a worn out hoodie and the tall stature of the person.
“You are not gonna get out of this room until I return and then we will fix whatever this is” Smriti had mumbled to the person before the match as they slumped on her bed. She took once last glance at the now sleeping figure before joining her team on the field. The past few minutes had been very confusing for the RCB’s skipper. It was the final match which she would be playing that too against her best friend from the profession and here she was stomping her way out of the hotel lobby with dishevelled appearance and her heart beating way to fast than it should've few minutes before her warm up.
The Gujrat Giants' captain or ass many might know her by the name of Smriti's arch nemesies, Ashleigh Gardner was currently passed out in Smriti's room, after commiting a drunken mistake which she wasn't really sure to classify as one. After being out of the tournament Ashleigh didn't sulk, yeah it was bitter but she didn't hold any other remorse in her heart. Her sole purpose in the wpl was to play good cricket, help other emerging players play good cricket, and watch a certain left handed batter play good cricket. She loved to call it just research and she did do her research on Smriti, why else would she be the one to get the Indian out every single time? But now that she did not have any of her teammates on her back, Ashleigh had let loose and downed a bottle or two, and had found herself infront of the training camp with a sloppy smile on her face. Grace was quick to notice her own teammate standing or rather swaying and did nothing but snap couple pics and upload them to their groupchat.
Ashleigh made her way towards Shreyanka who was beaming with life and quickly composed herself before asking, "Hey Shrey, do you know where I can find Mandhana?" She managed without slurring, "Oh- yeah she must be at the hotel" The Australian was trying her best to stabalise herself and not seem drunk as Shreyanka gave her the instructions to Smriti's room and after few minutes Ashleigh was knocking on the very same door.
The taller woman's eyes were darting everywhere as Smriti opened the door in a hurry, "Ash?" The name felt soft as Ashleigh giggled a little "Heyyyy, Mandyyy no one calls you that anymore right? Its all Smrits and Mandhana onlyy" She swayed a little bit and a very confused Smriti had no option but to stabalize her by holding both of her shoulders, "Are you drunk or something?" Smriti asked into the void as she was only met with giggles in return and she had no other option than to invite the rival in and have her sit on the bed.
As Smriti brought a bottle of water, Ashleigh had leaned back on the bed a little propped up on her arms as she spread her legs to occupy space and let her head fall back leisurely, "Why are you even here?" Smriti asked as she urged Ashleigh to drink the water. Ashleigh sat up straight, her eyes darting up to look at the pretty woman who was standing between her legs and hosting her head to make her drink the water. Smriti made a mental note of how dazed and heavenly blue Ashleigh's eyes looked before they closed themselves, "Cause I've been thinking about this for so long... Usually too much of a coward, but I'm too drunk to remember why I would be"
Smriti was very taken aback by the sudden dump of serious words for the not so serious state of the all rounder currently wasted in her room,"Why don't you lay down and I'll go play the finals, yeah?" Smriti tried deflecting and leaving as she was getting very late for the traning, "No, listen to me" Ashleigh had muttered as she pulled Smriti down onto her lap. Being the very sober and consicious one, Smriti should've gotten off but she too was a prey of darting eyes and beating hearts on the field hence; she made herself comfortable.
"Listen Gardner, you are really drunk right now and I really really have to go why don't you-"
“What do you mean? I'm drunk, but I still know who I am and what I want. And what I want is you.” Ashleigh had interuppted to get the big secret off her chest while her hand tightened its grip around Smriti's wrist as if she were to run away while the other hand softly placed itself on the lower back of her muse. Smriti let out a chocked laugh and softy hit Ashleigh's shoulder, "Very funny, you can go and tell whomever you have the bet with that its completed" She dismissed her and stood up again to pack her kit up as Ashleigh followed behind her like a lovesick puppy.
"I'm serious, Mandhana-"
"Yeah sure you are Gardner," Smriti rolled her eyes as she swiftly brushed her hair and put it up in a ponytail, "besides you'll drown in regret when you finally sober up" She retorted as she got on her shoes, hopping for a second before sitting down and continuing her process. Ashleigh took a seat beside her, her eyes tracing Smriti's side profile as she softly leaned in, “Not sure if I'm gonna regret the amount of booze I had, or what I'm about to do.” Smriti looked sideways to understand what Ashleigh meant by that and oh did she understand it throughly.
It would be a lie if Smriti said that she hadn't dreamt about times like this, everytime she had been dismissed she would look back at Ashleigh who would be looking right back at her, making her go red. But Smriti had blamed it on intensity of the sport which was not an exvuse to utilise when she was yet again going red, not from playing the sport, but by having Gardner's lips on her own.
Ashleigh's hand had snaked around Smriti's waist the moment Smriti's hand had placed itself on Ashliegh's cheek pulling her in. The kiss was rather soft, just meeting of two pairs of lips and sweet short kisses in quick successions before Ashleigh had dragged Smriti onto her lap again as they pulled away softly, Ashliegh didnt get the chance to open her eyes and Smriti was now fully strandling her and was kissing her yet again, her hands drapped around Ashleigh's broad shoulders and Ashleigh's hands encircled Smriti's waist.
The two finally pulled away as Smriti got off her lap and left after giving her the instructions to not come out.
Now after 8 hours of RCB being named the champions yet again, Smriti had went back to her room after the celebrations only to find Ashleigh watching the match highlights. Dread washed over Smriti as she realised that the Australian now seemed very much sober, and the possibility of their shared moments being just a mistake flashed in the victorious captain's mind, "You seem.... not drunk" She managed as she sat on the bed, too tired. "You seem to bat pretty well when I'm not out there for you, congrats Mandy" Ashleigh smriked.
"No one calls me Mandy anymore.." Smriti whispered as Ashleigh made her way towards the bed, "You mind if I do?" She retorted as she laid beside Smriti, "Doesn't seem like I have a say in this..." Smriti turned to look at her, noticing how her eyes seemed relatively a lot calmer and not dazed as she sucked in a deep breath remembering the exchanged moments between them, "You always kiss everyone when drunk?" She spoke gently, scared to break the atmosphere which had created itself, "Only the ones I get bowled everytime," Ashleigh's hand came to boop Smriti's nose as Smriti swatted it away, thinking that it was just how she operated. Sensing the reluctance Ashleigh continued, "and maybe the ones I've fancied for a while"
Smriti's eyes seemed to gleam at the mention as she quickly sat up straight and then crashed down onto Ashleigh, her arms hugging her as the blonde hugged her back again, "Congratulations on getting the victory, Mandy"
