You’ve heard the saying about “. . . as dose of your own medicine.” Well, I recently experienced a situation that set me back on my heels. I’m a psychiatrist and I often have patients who come in because they have sexual performance difficulties. Sometimes it’s a physical thing and other times it’s a psychological thing. If the patient hasn’t been to his GP recently, I usually send him there first. If it’s physical, the GP can fix it better and faster than I can. If they have had a physical and get a clean bill of health then I know it’s psychological and I typically prescribe something and send them on their way. Problem solved. Now comes the “good” part. Until recently I was a married person. I have two older kids and they are mostly out of the house. My wife and I went through a bad period, bickering, disagreeing, irreconcilable differences so to speak. We got a divorce, to make a long story short. I’m not a bad looking guy in my late 50s so, on my lawyers advice, I put myself out there in the dating world and I try to kick off all the bad feelings from the divorce. To my surprise, younger women, not twenty-somethings, but younger women are attracted to me. I am elated. I am overjoyed. I am like a pig in poop until I try to have sex. Nothing. No go! NADA! I have sexual performance issues and I’m a freaking psychiatrist! Talk about the plumber with broken pipes or the cop whose kid is a criminal. I am hoisted on my own petard, as they say! Easy answer, you surmise! Prescribe myself some meds! No way. I am very aware of the side effects that prescription sexual enhancement drugs have – I have patient notes to prove it – and I’m not interested. I go back to my lawyer friend who seems to have all the answers and he does have an answer for this one too! I can tell you now that I have been using Full Throttle OnDemand for a few months, keeping my young women friends as happy as I think they want to be, and suggesting mind you, not prescribing, Full Throttle OnDemand for my performance anxiety patients. I have “walked a mile in their shoes” and I see the light!
