Ford seems to be one of those scientists that builds something dangerous/morally unethical just to see if he can do it

yeah he makes the thing bc it’s an interesting concept, a challenge, or both. it’s an incredibly innocent (?? idk if im using that correctly) & irresponsible way to go about it, he’s assuming everyone shares his way of thinking. it’s like it doesn’t even cross his mind that ppl could & would wanna do bad things with it

edit: and though on one level it’s cute how into this stuff he is, on another it’s terrifying bc ford has the potential to do some shit and not even stop to realize its full effects. i mean, the consequences of the portal aren’t even over yet. his journals are still wreaking havoc by simply existing (how lazy can you get, hiding one under a hidden switch?? like really?), and he still hasn’t learned his lesson bc he’s handing powerful inventions out to solve trifling problems. that lightbulb lasts a thousand years?? really ford?? turn it down a notch

I just figured that the fact ford saw the frozen dipper shapeshifter was because someone (maybe dipper or mabel) told him about them finding the bunker which could've been what caused him to then later have the dream maybe like a week or two later

Its plausible, I like the idea Bill is screwing with him too :)
