“Mister Gabriel!” Natalie hopped up and went running to him as Frankie finished tossing out the rest of the wrapping paper that the little girl destroyed. “Wow!! Thank you!” She chirped while hugging him around the waist. Stepping forward then, Frankie looked at the box and tilts her head, “What’s this?”

     Gabriel smiled and tried to shrug off the nervous energy he felt. “Well, you know me,” he said with a breath of a laugh. “Couldn’t find anything that could really fit, so I figured my gift would just be, well... me, I guess.” He opened up the box to show her the simple silver ring which was inside. He’d been holding onto it for a couple years, worried that he wasn’t enough for her. But after all that had happened, he felt it was time to make that leap. He wanted to be there, for her and Nat. It just felt right. 

     “I mean... If you’ll have me.” Given, he wasn’t too sure about her feelings on the matter.

Gabriel worries you only think of Benny when you see him, and he hates himself for it. He understands things can’t be smoothed over, but he can’t help wondering if too much of Benny has rubbed off on him.

He’s also worried about his future with you. He wants to spend the rest of his life with you, but the stuff he’s done is inexcusable. He’s worried the Omertas might try going after you, and he’s worried what you might think about him.

He’s hiding. Get him to open up a bit. Might be terrified by what you find, but certain things need to be out on the table.

I keep wondering why Frankie is Gabe’s only straight relationship, then I realize she’s legit all he could ever want in a woman.

     The gifts and words warmed his heart, though there was a pang of guilt for not having the time to be with them that moment. He hadn’t come up with a gift of his own to give to them, having spent so much time scrambling to keep out of the Omertas’ way. There was, however, a small square box stowed away in his bag. Maybe next year.

Hearing that name for the first time in months made her frown just a bit, but she just moved one hand from his eye to then turn and stand in front of him, looking up at his face as she’s tugging his tie a little, “You’re a REAL sonvabitch…Y'know?”

“I know,” he replied, leaning over to kiss her. “But you love me all the same.” Another quick peck, this time on the cheek. “And I love you.” He put his arms around her, nuzzling into her. “Wouldn’t have it any other way, yeah? Damn, did I miss you. Was really getting worried that time.”

There’s a low noise being made, a whine of sorts while her hands grip at his shirt. Of course, she feels the urge to start sobbing but—instead she refuses and pulls back to stare at him while panting heavily.

Gabriel’s breathing was heavy as well, and he looked to her with a slight smile. “Well, that’s one way to end an argument,” he said with a chuckle. “Goddamn.”
