RAAHHHH JUMPSCARE!!!!! do you have any favorite books/films?

whoa jumpscare!! i'm a horror freak so my top 4 on letterboxd are saw 2004/audition/reanimator/ichi the killer which i guess count as my favorite films. ALSO TETSUO THE IRON MAN i <3 tetsuo the iron man i <3 body horror.

i don't read as much as i'd like to but the hellbound heart (clive barker) and serious weakness (porpentine) both really good. i have several stacks of books scattered around my room that i need to start and/or continue reading, including crime and punishment. unfortunately the horrors.

piper is a squeamish person and i watch almost exclusively horror so it's hard for me to decide any favorite movies of hers... i could see her liking black swan. i could also see her very pretentiously liking silent era black and white films, although the only proper silent film i've watched is the cabinet of dr caligari, which isn't piper's jam...

books is easier. i'm assuming british high schools read largely the same books as american high schools so i assign piper's faves as any assigned shakespeare plays, lord of the flies, and the great gatsby. she likes when doren does theatre units in class because she likes getting to read the parts aloud.

also you didn't ask about fiore but i'll just self-indulgently answer for them real quick vndfjksv. they don't watch movies unless quinn harangues them into watching their snuff films but they read like incredibly granular speculative biology monster horror. i haven't personally read anything i'm about to mention so if these don't actually fit the bill pretend they do but whalefall by daniel kraus comes to mind and also the southern reach series in terms of like Vibes.
