Getting Active Again.. (maybe)

"Well when I think of it. What I really want for Christmas would be my Aunty Tenma to come back... I do miss her. I know I was a stubborn child then, but I do love her and during these times of joy, I really want to see my family."
Tengu Headcanons Talk
Rainbow Dash: new tengu headcanon, there is a statue of bishamonten in the tengu village
Rainbow Dash: probobly even a small temple for it for worship
Rainbow Dash: http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5272/5889261983_9de4aa2e7a_b.jpg like this
Daichi Yuutamo: Ha. Yes. That makes a great deal of sense.
Rainbow Dash: Its been there for a long time, so its actually bishamonten and not shou
Rainbow Dash: also, tenma visits the statue daily for her worships and is an active practicianer of buddhism
Rainbow Dash: prolly was responsible for the shift between mockers of buddhists to practicers of buddhism
Daichi Yuutamo: Ah, that would tie in nicely, yeah. Plus, I rather liked that the Tengu were painted as both supporters and opponents of Buddhism. Makes their culture less monolithic.
Rainbow Dash: I wanna say they started out mocking them but as they learned more about it, tenma became facinated by it and started preaching about its benifits
Rainbow Dash: Might actually tie into how she united the clans too
Rainbow Dash: Buddhism was introduced in Japan as a way to placate the masses in a way, might have been used in a similar fashion in the tengu
Daichi Yuutamo: Indeed, but while you can catch a majority, there will always be hold outs.
Rainbow Dash: ofcourse
Rainbow Dash: and as i mentioned in a recent post, due to the mediacentric lifestyle of the tengu, open discourse has lead them to be fairly progressive in many ways, including a fairly recent freedom of religion act
Rainbow Dash: allowing them to worship how they see fit, tho the official religion is still listed as buddhism
Daichi Yuutamo: Yup yup! Tenma the Progressive.
Rainbow Dash: I think she probobly catches alot of flak from it from the older tengu
Rainbow Dash: there is a rift in the society between the older traditional generations, and the younger social justice warrior reporter types i think
Rainbow Dash: all this gives the tengu supremicists more reason to hate Ai tho
Daichi Yuutamo: Which makes the love between Daichi and Ai that much more amusing. They're opposites! She's more progressive and reasonable, while he's more traditional. Makes a nice contrast.
Rainbow Dash: I think tenmas relativly young age compaired to her peers might also allow her to think this way more, and be a sore point for the counsil and such
Rainbow Dash: and even more reason why they would be opposed to her attachment to him
Rainbow Dash: also, Im tempted to put this conversation up on my blog, this is really good headcanon brainstorming.
Daichi Yuutamo: Go for it.
Confessions: Suwako
"Lady Suwako..." Ai couldn't believe what she was hearing. Suwako, her close and trusted friend, the goddess she often looked to for guidance, the one that consoled her after every time Daichi hurt her... was confessing? She opened her mouth a few times but could find no words. She was a figurehead so she had gotten random confessions before but by fans, not by people she cared about. She couldn't bring herself to accept feeling for the friend, not yet... but she couldn't turn her down either. "I will.. think about it..." was all she could say.
Confessions: Marisa
The Tenma was taken back. Surely this was a joke, she barely knew the ordinary magician how could she have fallen in love with her? "Ah.. I am very flattered really, but we are both girls and I am a tengu and you are human. Even if I could return your feelings I just don't think we could work out. I am... very very sorry..."
Matters of Faith
Yamata, Tenmas normally very serious and stern bodyguard, was quite surprised to see Toramaru enter the lady's mansion. He bowed deeply and spoke loudly. "Lord Bishamonten! I will let the lady know you have come. Please wait here"
Then, when allowed, he turns and very ceremoniously opens the door to the Tenmas office and informs her of her visitor. There is some rustling inside as the tengu leader moved to tidy up for such an important visitor. After a minutes time the door opens again and the bodyguard allows the avatar of the buddhist war god to enter.
The Price of Duty
How many life events hat Tenma missed because of her duties? How many people in her own life had she neglected to see to the lives of others. Regret.. Regret.. Regret... They just kept piling on.
She didn't make it to Aya's wedding, she had to attend a coucil meeting. Aya's baby shower was much the same, she was stuck behind a thousand page bill she needed to read and sign off on before morning.
Luckily, this time she could stop and finally greet her newest living relative. She had had time to.. accept the strangeness that was two girls having a baby. She wouldn't ask the specifics, she doubted she wanted to know what part of Ayas love life allowed it to happen. What mattered was that it did and now there was someone to carry on their blood.
"Here, let me hold her" She said, holding out her arms
Fruit (Candy) of the Gods
"If you keep coming by like this the council will think I'm planning on changing the state religion from Buddhism to Jingi. How are you friend?" Tenma said as she got up to greet the goddess with a friendly hug.
After the friendly exchange she picks up a piece of candy and inspects it "Ah, delightful. How is Volo doing? I swear since she went over there the number of us that have switched to worshiping at your shrine has increased. My jokes earlier aside that might actually happen one day, at least if Myouren doesn't do something. Lord Bishamonten is never seen coming to visit and it hurts her image."
