Jeannie’s inquiries:

1.What do you love about your appearance? I love my lips. 2. If you could have any super power, what would it be? Teleportation. 3. What is the best dream you’ve ever had? I surely don’t recall. I can recall the bizarre dreams. But, although I have a fondness for bizarre, those aren’t really the same thing. 4. What’s the worst? I’m being put on the spot here and you’re just going to have to deal with the first thing that comes to mind…which is really pretty ridiculous. When I was little, I had a recurring nightmare wherein burglars sucked my family into the shower drain and I had to frantically try to plunge them back out while simultaneously fending off the burglars. 5. If money were no object, what would you do for a living? Travel. Make art. Learn everything. Tattoo. Write. ALL the things. 6. It’s the zombie apocalypse! What’s your weapon of choice? Land mines. 7. First fictional character you ever fell in love with? Miss Jane Marple. 8. What is your favorite word? Plumaceous. 9. Your least favorite? Engorge. 10. Tell me about your earliest memory. My first two best friends were these little boys my grandma used to babysit. We used to play on her front lawn in a kiddie pool. Grandma didn’t like us to come into the house while we were still wet. I had to pee really urgently. The two little boys would just pee in the bushes and neither of them understood why I couldn’t do that, to the point of extreme frustration. I may have pushed one of them over, to shut him up and run my way back over to my house to pee. I also used to chase them around with my pet turtle. 11. What is your dream home? Tell me what it looks like. I have at least six different dream homes. One of which has many elaborate rooms dedicated to exotic animals and plants. Another of which has a massive room for creating art. I drew up a dream home in 8th grade with a cat attic. And the whole house was drab and lovely. Grey walls. Wood floors. Black furniture.

Jeannie's Inquiries:

1. What is your most treasured possession? My mind. I hate saying that and sounding all pseudo-superior, but it's true.

2. If you could have any 3 wishes come true (excluding the norm: no bringing anyone back from the dead or making anyone fall in love with you) I would wish to never have want and to pay all debts. I would hold on to my remaining wish to bestow as a gift to someone who needs it.

3. What are you most afraid of? Dementia.

4. What is your favorite book/movie-why? My favorite book is Behind the Attic Wall, by Sylvia Cassedy, because it glorifies imaginative belief in an eerie way and I felt connected to the main character. Darn good children's book.

5. What do you do to cheer yourself up? That absolutely depends on why I'm down. If I'm cooped up, I'll go for a walk. Down on my appearance, I'll change it (cut/dye my hair, play with makeup, etc.). Feeling unremarkable, make some art. Looking for an emotional release, watch sad movies in the dark.

6. Do you like to sing karaoke? Sometimes. In the right company.

7. What was your favorite game to play as a child? Dress up. It still is.

8. Would you like to know the day you’re going to die ahead of time? Why or why not? I honestly don't know. On one hand, it'd be nice to know that anything up until that point couldn't kill me. On the other hand, that's a whole lot more pressure to do things before you die. Dreaming without the limitation of an expiration date is a nice feeling. Not to mention the emotional gamut of the end. I think I like not knowing.

9. What one thing are you most proud of? How I cope. Medication didn't really help my anxiety, depression, or insomnia. I haven't fixed myself, obviously. But, I'm aware and I take actions. Without medication, I've adapted. I'm hardly afflicted anymore.

10. If you could learn any skill in the world instantly, what would it be? Extreme couponing.

11. What is the most daring or dangerous thing you’ve ever done? Honeychild, I was born to be mild. I can't think of a single daring or dangerous thing I've done.

Kayle's Q's:

1. What are your favorite colors to wear? Black, blue, and grey make up the majority of my wardrobe. Also, that purple bird dress. Those who see me relatively regularly know the one. 2. What is your least favorite song of the moment, and why? I honestly can't think of songs I hate. I block them out, when I'm not hearing them. 3. What is your go to album/movie/tv show when you are feeling down? It changes depending on what sort of "down" I'm feeling. I will always take comfort in Arthur (the kids' show, not the movie). 4. If you could master any skill, what would it be and why? I'd like to master the skill of organization. It's so boring, but I'm such a mess. I'm still trying to get my room together. 5. If you could be any existing superhero/villain, who would you be? I'm the magnificent, marvelous, mad Madame Mim! I may have taken liberties there, if you meant supervillians in the context of superheroes. Too bad. 6. If you could be a successful musician, what genre of music would you make? I would bring back ska. 7. If you were a Pokemon gym leader, what type would you use? And how would you decorate your gym? Fairy-type. My gym would be dark...and sparkly. Like Crystal Cave, in PA. Yes. 8. What is your favorite species of bird? Hummingbirds. This changes. Birds are crazy, and I love them. 9. What is the most expensive item of clothing you own? I have absolutely no idea. 98% of my clothes are from thrift shops. I try not to spend more than $15 on any one article of clothing. 10. Describe, without identifying who it is, the person who is currently dearest to your heart (interpret as you wish). Beautiful, awkward, hedonistic fool. Nonjudgmental, comfortable companion. 11. If your soul/personality could be visualized with any pattern, what would it be? I'm a patchwork quilt.

8: Talk about the thing you are most proud of.

This prompt gives me anxiety. Superlatives generally do. They’re intimidating.

I’m going to say I’m most proud of the fact that I genuinely like myself, more often than not. That’s not easy. And it’s sad that it’s not easy. 

24: Talk about something someone told you that meant a lot.

Just recently, after Joe first told me he wanted to break up, I let my pastor know he mightn’t be coming back. Pastor asked if I meant to church or to me. I told him both. And I started to tear up. And he calmly, firmly, without blinking, told me to thank God. 

He liked Joe. It wasn’t that. He told me that after his wife died, he was sad. He never wanted that to happen. But, if that hadn’t happened, he’d’ve never married Ann. I never met his first wife but I know how much he and Ann love and support one another. Pastor’s been through a lot. That was his way of assuring me that as painful as loss is, he’s certain of better things in store. If anybody else had told me the exact same thing, I’d’ve hated it. It meant a lot, coming from him.

33: Talk about what you do when you are sad.

Palling around with my pastor is starting to look like a good option.

It depends on what kind of sad. I pray. Sometimes I try and cry it out. Sometimes I distract myself because I don’t want to cry. Watch some Netflix. Eat rubbish. Cut my hair. Paint my nails. Draw some pictures. Mope on the couch. Shower. Go for a walk. 

38: Talk about songs that remind you of certain people.

A lot of songs remind me of Aleithea. We spent a lot of time in her car, listening to the radio. Road trips with radio = the same popular songs over and over. Obnoxiously singing along. I miss Aleithea.

"Run Around" by Blues Traveler will always remind me of my Uncle Danny and Aunt Lori. It was their wedding dance song. It was just a really fun and happy wedding dance and it really made me happy.

More often than not, songs remind me of times in my life and not necessarily specific people.

So, Jeannie, whom I love for reasons much deeper than her generosity and thoughtfulness, gave me her bus pass for the weekend, since she won’t be needing it. And, I feel I owe it to her or the pass or myself or the universe to take ALL the buses ALL the places.

Like, I need to travel the city and learn all its secrets via public transportation before this magical pass expires.

I’ll probably just use it for the rest of my work transport needs and to maybe go to stores. Unless I get super pumped about it and have a downtown excursion.

I’m just sitting at work thinking of all the things I could do.

Thank you! I'm really nervous <3 I've been rejected from art school and had submissions denied in multiple art contests that I've entered. Having my art rejected is just about as commonplace as it is for it to be liked and admired. I'm just hoping I have what it takes...
