was prompted into the realization that if laertes had succeeded he would've been screwed. like i doubt claudius would try super hard to exonerate him from hamlet's death when claudius himself is already doing his whole "ahhhhh my guilt" thing. but like. maybe laertes knew that. because i mean what else is there for him at that point. his father is dead his sister is dead all he has is vengeance. and you best belief that hamlet is probably angry about this. that laertes can still turn his suicidality into action instead of hesitation.
