Alexander Dumas' stuff is pretty fun - i havent read the original french but The Three Musketeers, Count of Monte Cristo and the Black Tulip were an interesting read in english
Absolutely no shade at Dumas, but the issue is that the dude died in 1870. Either I would have to read graded readers (which sucks because graded readers kill all my enjoyment of language) or I’m looking up words all 0.5 seconds because of all the vocabulary that has gone out of general use ever since then. Which sucks because then I’m not actually reading.
My French is not quite that good yet. Sob. Something to aspire to, though. I do want to read at least the Count of Monte Cristo in the original at some point.
