The Boardwalk was a place Crow constantly found himself gravitating towards, but he never did much while he was there. He wanted to go on the rides, but for some reason was too self conscious to go on them alone. He was terrible at all the games and just continuously lost his very miniscule amount of extra spending money trying to get poorly made stuff animals.
Currently he was scouting out the games in an attempt to find one run by a bored teenager that might take pity on him. He wanted that stupid stuffed bear so bad, it was killing him. As he meandered along the walk, he was picking up bits and pieces of conversation; nothing was really interesting enough to stick around and listen to until he heard --
“-- then I threw out my next Pokémon --”
-- Crow stopped in his tracks; his head swiveled around until he saw who was speaking. A Snivy was perched on her shoulder, she had a sucker popped in her mouth, and she definitely looked like a world weary traveler as she regaled a group of kids with her tale. She had a real, honest to god Pokémon. This world got weirder every day. He slowly inched towards the gaggle of kids; they suddenly took off when one of them checked his phone for the time.
Okay. Here’s his chance. Crow nearly tripped over his own feet to try to grab her attention before she left.
“Ah! Ahem, is that a real Pokémon? Not some hologram or advanced projection?” He was eyeing the Snivy with a discerning eye; it took all self control to not reach out and touch it to check himself.
