Driving and walking through the streets of Laguna Beach we came across this art supply shop.
I loved the wooden white sign with the black Helvetica printed font, which was hiding underneath the green awning. I’ve experienced this art supply shop as arranged really naturally from the inside out. There was an order in the assortment and of course it was of high quality, but it was chaotic at the same time, but not cheap. I love the flatness of Californian architecture. Here I love the plants covering the walls of brick.
When I found myself in this art supply shop my inner candid child awakened while my high expectations of painting supplies were met. As a painter that is so important to me. From the outside in, there is a story I experience. Entering the store, equipment is casually placed while some are looking out the corners and hanging criss-cross - as a painter I can immediately have a direct relationship to a supply of high quality, without distance. As the tool is a natural element of the space, flowing interaction is possible.
That’s the beauty of building things with empathy and intuition. It’s natural. It’s what really makes an experience. This shop is a real art supply store. This is an actual art supply store. That‘s the beauty of California.
