Scotland was the first country in the world to give free menstrual products to all students and pupils. A Scottish women’s campaign group conducted a study that revealed nearly one in five respondents had to go without period products because of lack of finances, while one in ten had been forced to prioritize essentials such as food, over buying period products. In response, the Scottish government sponsored and initiated a trial project where free menstrual products were given to 1,000 girls from low income families in Aberdeen. Scotland has since expanded the project to be scaled across Scotland, reaching 395,000 students and pupils.

Most women dread the thought of menstruation. We know that period may be annoying and painful so we bring to you a few ways that can turn around your discomfort days to pleasant period: 1. Heating pad. Nothing relives the lower abdomen and back pain like a heating pad. 2. Stretch, helps relieve back pain or discomfort and relaxes muscles. 3. Get enough nutrients. There are medical studies that link decreased levels of potassium, calcium and magnesium to cramping. Eating enough of these nutrients can not only help relive pain but also helps with water retention and moodiness. 4. Drink sufficient water, it minimises water retention and also helps in reducing back cramps and muscle tension. 5. Give up the alcohol, it dehydrates your body, construct blood vessels and causes cramping. . . . #ourlaiqa #mylaiqa #womenempowerment #womensupportingwomen #mentalhealthawareness #selfcare #socialanxiety #mentalhealthblogger #sexualhygiene #findyourself #menstrualcycle #sanitarypad #community #girlsgeneration
