8/18/20 - Cloudy and Fiery Sunset at Pyramid Lake at the Angeles National Forest. The skies were a deep orange hue, because of the Lake Fire going on around the Lake Hughes, CA area. Praying for the Firefighters, and for all affected by the fires. Yesterday was the start of our road trip week going North to Central California to visit relatives living in Salinas, CA, social distancing style. Then we will enjoy our journey going back south towards home, to visit and photograph many beautiful places and scenery, mostly along the coast via California Highway 1. Attached is a piece written by Jack about how he makes the earrings. The hair pieces are super detailed and take time do do because everything is done by hand from the moccasins to the Star blankets. Have a read and let me know.🙏 The earrings are made some with porupine quills. Others all bugle beads or bugle beads and porupine quills getting a porupine that has been hit by a car is the first step. saying a prayer for this relative sharing itself so we can share it is next step . Then pulling all the quills and cleaning them so they can be used for earrings is next. Sorting them by size cause only the large ones can be used for this type earring. Buying the right type of thread, beads, that are the right size, plus the cones and hooks is important. Then stringing the number of beads small and large, and the quills. These are secured by eye hook and the thread and tying each loop till u have the number of loops u want. Putting the cones and eye hooks completes the process.
