AND HE TRIES to approach his village’s gates with as much vigor as he can muster, for he is exhausted from his mission. But if he could make it through the gates with a smile on his face and jogging, he was satisfied. Lee pauses in his steps, inhaling deeply to prepare himself for this jog through the last stretch of land between him and the village. Upon reaching the pique of his inhale, his gaze travels to the edge of the woods that lines the path. A hunched over form catches his eye.
AND IT IS a tired-looking form— Exhaustion far greater than what he was experiencing. It appeared to be a woman with long, dark hair. Her hair held no shine and her traditional-styled clothing was matted with dirt and blood. Alarm coursed through Lee’s veins. His own exhaustion forgotten, he lurches forward to her side. He places a hand on her back, voice thick with concern. He’s yet to recognize her.
❝ What has happened to you? Please— Allow me to carry you to the village! We must get you medical attention. ❞
