For some people who are confused on how Lan Jingyi grew up to be so unfiltered, free spirited and mischievous unlike the other Lan clan members, here is the reason.
It was because it Lan Zhan who was changing the sect and the norms for the better. There is a reason why Wei Wuxian is called Lan Zhan's freedom.
Wei Wuxian taught Lan Zhan how to take stand for himself and how dangerous it is to follow rules blindly and silently. Wei Wuxian taught Lan Zhan how to question, and also how to rebel against the wrong.
Moreover, the Clan war taught Lan Zhan the price you pay for keeping quiet and putting up for too long.
Lan Zhan took those learnings and cultivated those principles in his disciples.
Though Lan Shizui was soft spoken and polite, he knew when to take stand for himself and for the people he loved.
