goodbye
Skyhold, usually buzzing was life, was uncomfortably silent as the Inquisitor returned from Adamant, just hours after the rest. There had been no time for talk before he’d led the forces home. She should have found him. She’d promised. The commander tried to soothe his nerves, pacing back and forth along the stone, oblivious to the ripple of whispered gossip his tension was causing.
He stopped in his tracks, just feet from where the Inquisitor stood, talking to Varric. The words falling upon the hall. Hawke. Dead. Suddenly, the ground feels as if it has dissolved beneath his feet. His head is spinning.
Everyone’s gaze is on Varric, concerned as to how he’ll react, completely unaware that the Inquisition’s commander is falling to pieces only a short distance away. The sound of clattering dish ware and crunching wood catches their attention. Then the slamming of a door as the commander leaves the room to its gossip.
Only when he’s alone in his office, door bolted, does he shut the door. He’s held himself together as long as he can. He gives under the weight of his own grief, falling to his hands and knees. Chest heaving, heart aching. He desperately wishes he could rip it from him. To spare himself the torment knowing that she would never again storm into his office, teasing him about working too hard.
"If you think you can stand living with me, looking but not touching, you're welcome to try." (definitely said seductively)
He stands before her, just a fraction too close for propriety. Shoulders squared, he crosses his arms and peers down at her. Any passerby could suspect them of no more than a friendly conversation.
Scarred lips curl every so slightly into a crooked smirk, something sparking provocatively in his golden eyes as they dart down to her lips and then back to meet her stare. “If you have forgotten, I have spent the better part of the last ten years looking at you but not touching. I think you underestimate my capacity for restraint.”
[But She Still Pulls On Me]

❛ i’m freezing cold. ❜
"It's, uh, it's seventy degrees out." Dean looked at her oddly. "…you okay?"
“Quick, act like my friend and laugh at my jokes. Hurry, they’re looking this way!”
It took Dean about half a second to react, plastering a semi-natural smile on his face and laughing a little, in the way someone mildly amused would.
"Man, wish I'd been there. Sounds like a crazy-ass time, know what I'm saying? I better get an invite next time. Just saying." He was making crap up, now, but he didn't know who it was that could be watching them. Doesn't exactly do wonders for the whole paranoia thing he's got going on.
