You should make your clothes with really intense Dior new-look style shaping! Nipped in at the waist, then sculpted curves out over the hips and bust. Like 36, 26, 36 proper vintage hourglass! That structured dramatic shape is so rare in clothes these days. Everything's slouchy or stretch :(

The new look is my biggest inspiration! Over the last few days the idea of a smaller collection, heavily inspired by the new look, has come to mind. I don’t know I will sell those garments or just use them in marketing purposes though. But please keep in mind that you can order anything you want from me, and look out for the jackets and coats that will come up in my Etsy shop for autumn :)

Hi there pretty lady! Just saw your post about purchasing corsets from Retro Folie. Not sure when you ordered, but I was wondering if you've received those corsets yet? You seem like a really cool person, so I'd love to see photos of how you wear them. I'm homeschooled so I literally pretty much just lie in bed all day except for taking care of my animal companions, ha. I look like I have it together because I post the good stuff on here...

I just have a lot of anxiety about the possibility of getting stuck in this house/area/etc. etc. haha.

Hello, do you know why some Victorian and Edwardian corsets had suspenders attached in the very middle of the bottom edge? They don't appear to be holding up hose, but are clipped onto an under-chemise/petticoat or bloomers. I've seen modern reproductions using them to hold up stockings, but stocking suspenders usually sit in the middle of each thigh, not between the legs as it would restrict walking. It just looks awkward to me. I obviously can't post a photo, but perhaps you can find one.

I think this is what you mean?  They do appear to be holding up the petticoat, although she refers to them as garter straps, so I believe that is what they are doing, and the petticoat gets caught up in them.  They look long enough so that they wouldn’t hinder her walking—although I suppose if she paired it with a hobble skirt, that wouldn’t matter anyway, haha.

Just wondering what you know pre-1900 brands and products? I'm particularly interested in cosmetics and toiletries that would have been sold in the early department stores. I've been trying to find products like 4711 Eau De Toilette which have been around since the 1700's or 1800's and remained largely the same throughout the years. Do you know of any brands/products like this, or modern brands which produce historically accurate products?

Ooh, yeah, that is definitely something I don’t have much info on, maybe someone else does?
