A patient brought in her tiny , freshly hatched , one day old turtles (or tortoises, I’m not sure) into our clinic today, much to our joy! So beautiful and so cute and so tiny!

Thousands of feet above an airport, a passenger plane circles around again. The first two subjects from the terrapin pilot initiative to be tested in the field shift nervously in the pilot and copilot seats of the airport, uncertain of what needs to happen next. Finally, an air traffic controller yells exasperatedly on the radio. "Land, turtles!!"

As an american I have to say we usually do call them tortoises.(well the people who don’t know the difference between tortoises and turtles just call all of them turtles. Haven’t ever heard land turtle before)

I was absolutely horrified when I first heard an American call a tortoise a 'turtle' on tv. I'm glad to hear that at least some of you do know the difference! 

I just saw this guy talking about, of all things, a Teentage Mutant Ninja Turtles game, where your character could die by drowning. He said "what kind of turtle can't swim?!" Another guy's reaction was "Land turtles. Land turtles can't swim." 

Land turtles. 

...now that I think about it, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles might actually be tortoises.
