A Landmark Move: Centre Pushes GIS Mapping to Bring Transparency to Property Registration
India is set for a major transformation in the way urban properties are registered. The Centre is preparing to issue guidelines to states that will replace the long-practised method of attaching rough, hand-drawn sketch maps to property deeds with accurate GIS-based latitude–longitude coordinates.
The goal: ensure every property transaction is tied to a precisely mapped land parcel.
