Trevor Langan x Rafael Barba: Coming Clean

A birthday treat for the wonderful @me-ladie!

    - Olivia is the first one to find out about that Trevor and Rafael are a couple. Since working on Noah’s adoption, Trevor has expressed his discomfort at keeping their relationship a secret from the woman who knows them both so well.

    - Rafael is a very private person, his colleagues are unaware of his sexuality, not because he tries to hide it but because he deems it as no one else’s business. Trevor has always respected that privacy but lately, as their relationship has become more serious Rafael has started to detect his lover’s displeasure at the situation. He decides to rectify this by inviting Liv to brunch at their favorite cafe.

    - When Liv first arrives at the table she is confused by Trevor’s presence. It takes her a moment to reconcile with the fact that the man who has helped her with Noah is sitting at a beside one of her closest friends. For a moment she feels the earth shift beneath thinking that Trevor has enlisted Rafael’s help to deliver bad news. It isn’t until she sees Rafael reach out and lace his fingers with Trevor’s that she works out what’s really going on. As she sits down she tells Trevor how happy she is that Rafa finally has someone to take care of him.

    -Mike is the next one to find about the relationship between Trevor and Rafael. When Barba starts receiving death threats after charging three police officers with the death of a college kid, Mike is the only one Rafael trusts to arrange his protection detail. He discloses his relationship to the Sergeant in order to make sure Trevor is protected.

    - Sonny has the unfortunate luck of walking into Barba’s office during an intimate moment. Carmen is away at lunch when he practically hurtles through Barba’s door clutching a manila folder in his hand. He catches Rafael taking a rare moment of solace in his boyfriend’s arms, his face buried in the curve of Trevor’s neck as his boyfriend’s fingers comb through his hair soothingly. The heat blushes up Sonny’s face, turning him an entertaining shade of crimson as he stumbles over his apology. Trevor is the one to put Sonny out of his misery, he withdraws from Rafael, pecking him on the lips lightly before leaving the two of them to talk.

    - That night Trevor meets up with both Sonny and Rafael at the bar. The three of them drink tumblers of scotch and discuss the ins and outs of the law well into the night.

    - Amanda and Fin find out at the same time. The two of them are discussing the latest case one night at a bar when they catch sight of Barba being greeted by his boyfriend with a sinful kiss on the mouth. The expression on the other man’s face when he looks at Barba makes Amanda’s heart hurt, she wishes that there was someone in her life that looked at her the same way that Trevor looked at him. Fin simply shrugs his shoulders and declares he’s glad someone’s happy.

Trevor Langan x Rafael Barba: Reckless

    -  Barba was a legend amongst the defense attorneys, even before he transferred to Manhattan. Trevor has heard him described as smug, conniving and just a straight up son of a bitch. He was loathed in the circles that Trevor had once moved in.

    - Trevor had made the switch to family law by the time Barba had moved into the DA’s office. During his time as a defense attorney, he had come across too many people who had been victims of a broken system. He had wanted to change that, he wanted to help people before they got so desperate that committing a crime seemed like the only way forward. He knew it was idealistic but it didn’t stop him from wanting to try.

    - Still there were bad days. Days like today when the kid he was trying to protect ended up back with the abusive parent despite everything he had tried to do to prevent it.

    - That was the reason Trevor was at Forlini’s alone on a Friday night. He’d come straight out of family court before heading to his old haunt in a bid to drown his sorrows in a tumbler full of bourbon. The first thing he had done was loosen the knot of his tie before popping the button on his collar and dropping onto one of the velveteen bar stools.

    - The first drink had gone down easy, Trevor found himself savoring the burning sensation in his thorax as the expensive liquid poured down his throat. He had barely put the crystal tumbler down on the bar before another one appeared before him. He muttered his thanks to the young female bartender, his slim fingers enclosing around the alcoholic beverage. The bartender tilted her head, inclining it towards the man perched just a couple of empty stools away.

    - There in the flesh was Rafael Barba, his white shirt sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, revealing tanned muscular forearms. Trevor felt his mouth go dry as he watched the other man lean back in his seat and tip his drink up towards him. Those trademark suspenders of his were taunt against his crisp, white shirt extenuating the shape of the other man’s form. Barba’s handsome smile played across his lips as he raised a single eyebrow as if in question.

    - It was tempting, so very fucking tempting. There was a wicked glint in those emerald green eyes of his, one that made a flush of heat rush through Trevor as the ADA removed his suit jacket from the stool alongside him.

    -It had been a long time for Trevor, he couldn’t remember the last time he had felt desired or wanted. His last relationship had ended over two years ago and he hadn’t taken another man to his bed since. He wasn’t sure he remembered how to do this dance anymore but hell, when he looked at Barba he wanted to. He wanted to run his fingers through that salt and pepper hair, hear Barba moan in his ear as he tugged at the roots, driving himself even further into the ADA’s wanton body.

    - One night, he thought raising to his feet before gathering up his belongings and heading over to the stool where Barba sat. You can allow yourself to be reckless for one god damned night.

Trevor Langan x Rafael Barba - Relationship Questions

        1. Who touches the other person’s cheek tenderly?

    Trevor is the more affectionate one in the relationship but Rafael who reaches out and strokes Trevor’s cheek, his thumb tracing over the curve of his cheekbone. He loves it when Trevor smiles, his eyes meeting Rafael’s as he kisses his lover’s palm.

        2. Who asks philosophical questions really late at night?

    Neither, the two of them have very lively debates about philosophy during their evenings over glasses of scotch. However Trevor likes to roll over in bed and whisper his hopes for the future into Rafael’s ear in the dead of night, his fingers trail down the inside of his lover’s arm until their fingers entwine as he tells Rafael how much he loves him.   

        3. Who always says I love you before the other person leaves the house?

        Trevor is always the first one to leave in the morning. Rafael is usually sitting at the kitchen counter, sipping coffee and reading the paper when Trevor hears his name being called as he’s half way out of the door. He twists in time to meet Rafael’s emerald gaze as his lover smiles and says ‘I love you.’ which is always returned with a grin and ‘I love you too Rafael.’

        4. Who kisses the inside of their partner’s wrist?

    Trevor always kisses the inside of Rafael’s wrist when the other man strokes his cheek, it’s a loving and intimate gesture and makes sure to maintain eye contact with Rafael when he does it.

        5. What would they do if they went on a date at a carnival?

    Trevor likes to walk the boardwalk with his arm around Rafael’s shoulders, he bribes his unruly counterpart with the promise of the home made brownies to get him there. He drags Rafael into the photo booth and the two of them do silly poses for the first two pictures before Trevor surprises Rafael by pulling him down into his lap and kissing him the third picture. Either of them was paying attention to the fourth because the two of them had started to make out and Rafael was making those delicious little noises that Trevor loved to hear.

        6. Who whispers sweet nothings into the other person’s ear?

    Trevor loves to whisper into Rafael’s ear, he loves the feeling of his lover pressed against him as he details exactly what he plans to do to the other man once they get home. In bed it’s Rafael, he mutters in Spanish while Trevor’s lips and hands work their magic all over his body. Trevor knows enough to pick out certain phrases but it’s the tone that Rafael is using that makes him fall in love with the other man even more.
