I’ve had a good day, with waking up to a Thunderstorm and having to walk through the rain to get to my dance practice. I have also educated myself on what it means to learn an indigenous language and why it could be a bad thing to learn certain languages.
I couldn’t do so much work today, because I trained throughout the whole day, but I did manage to do at least something!
Yiddish
So someone told me some stuff about the indigenous language jam and I get it. At first, I thought mhh maybe I should learn Yiddish you know, cus it has a history with my family. But then I thought. No. I’ve seen some people post things about what happened when they tried to point out the problematics and what the responses were that they got and decided I don’t want to associate with people who think like that.
I have nothing against people who still decide to participate in it, but I do have something against people who say hateful things about other cultures and cannot respect the fact that those people might not want you to learn their language! This is nothing against the creator tho.
But I do have to say if the next language jam is about languages that are open to everyone, I might participate.
Spanish ~ 10 min
I went through some Vocab and reviewed old flashcards!
Korean ~ 20 min
Like with Spanish I only practiced Vocab. I did practice building some random sentences.
Anyways here are the words of today:
이런 - such, like this, kind of
여자 - woman, female
개 - unit/piece (a counting word) used for most inanimate objects
정도 - grade, degree (when talking abt. a figure)
다 - all, everything
좀 - a little
싶다 - to want, hope
가지다 - to have, take, hold
함께 - together, with (formal)
아이 - child
As always words in italic are words I already knew
