Minus One
Minus One is a thought-provoking, character driven, truthful and sensitive piece of theatre debuting at Theatre Upstairs, Lanigans, Eden Quay in two weeks time. The play focuses on the lives of three generations of women, each of whom have their own tale about overcoming the obstacles of breast cancer. I had the honour of briefly working with writer and director Eileen Kavanagh a few weeks back and I can honestly say this is one event not to be missed. I would highly recommend getting along to this on October 24th if possible for a special fundraising night for Action Breast Cancer (as I'm sdure you all know, October is breast cancer awareness month). For the fabulous price of 20euro, patrons are fed and 'wined' and of course, get to see the show. Please take a look at the info below:

Inspired by her and how she simply just got on with it, I turned to my writing; which had kept me sane in the past. While my sister was in hospital receiving her treatment, I watched the faces of these women and wondered about their past before they were handed a gown. I began to write a play ‘Minus One.’ Delighted to say my sister, thanks to the wonderful treatment and care she received is on the road to a full recovery." For Kathleen with love. "And I said let grief be a fallen leaf at the dawning of the day." - Patrick Kavanagh. Copyright Eileen Kavanagh. 2012.
