honored and blessed to have the opportunity to have @laos_angeles reach out to me for an interview! 🙏🏽💛 Posted @withregram • @laos_angeles #LaosAngelesShine featuring Monica Sivixay @ayymmmonnayy ——————— Where do you live? Columbus, Ohio ——————— Where is your family from? My mom is from Ban Nasay, which is a small village an hour away from Vientiane. My dad was born in Savannakhet, but grew up in Pakse. ——————— What is your occupation now? I’m on a clerical float team with a local physicians group and serve part time at a restaurant. I also have a food/lifestyle blog on the side as a hobby. ——————— What do you aspire to? I aspire to tell people about Laotian culture and how beautiful it is because I’m so proud of my roots. I feel like without acknowledging this, we won’t be able to preserve our traditions to keep them alive for future generations. ——————— What would you like to recommend to the people? Take time to work on yourself because it opens the doors to beautiful things that are in store for you. The amount of self-love and strength you will gain during this process is so empowering and essential for personal growth. ——————— What other self-identified Laotian person should we know about and why? My friend Euy Sera (@serakoulabdara), who’s the director of Legacies of War (@legaciesofwar). She is an amazing person inside and out and one of the most driven, passionate people I’ve ever met. I’ve learned so much from her and love her dearly. #LaosAngeles #LaosAngelesRoots #laos #lao #peopleoflaos #laotian #hmong #iumien #laotianamerican #southeastasian #representationmatters #community #immigrantsmakeamericagreat #refugee #aapi #inspire #dream #support #monispeaks #monieats (at Columbus, Ohio) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNGjzFFhpcD/?igshid=18hta8sva7v36
