La Palma Rosa is Sitges first ever festival dedicated to international LGBTI film and culture. The festival launches on 1st September 2017 and runs for 7 days.

The movie is a personal profile of Marie-Pierre Pruvot, an Algerian-born transgender woman who had a long and prominent career as a dancer and showgirl in the Parisian cabaret bar, Carrousel in the 1950s & 60s, under the stage name Bambi. The documentary includes home movies and a series of touching testimonials which help us understand the life of a woman seeking her freedom and detailing the joys and the hardships of life on the outer edges of French society. The film won the Teddy Award for Best Documentary Film at the 2013 Berlin International Film Festival.

When Jamie finds out her girlfriend Jill has spent time exploring BDSM, her insecurities about falling behind in the bedroom push her to propose that they start going to underground clubs. Jamie decides to use the pseudonym Sally so she can stay anonymous but still look like she’s using her real name, which apparently she thinks makes her look cool. Identifying as the butch one in a traditional butch/femme couple, “Sally” assumes she will take the dominant role in their escapades, with Jill as her submissive, but Jill has ideas of her own.

Meanwhile, their friends Lola and David start dating the polyamorous bisexual Sebastian, who proposes to have a threesome. They quickly agree without planning to follow through, expecting the other one to back out first so they can save face with their new boyfriend. A provocative and hilarious ride, S&M Sally details the unexpected journey that happens when your insecurities push you outside of your comfort zone, leading you down a path for which there is no going back.

Unable to make progress with her ex-lesbian conversion path, a neurotic “All American” Jill tracks down her butch ex-girlfriend Jamie to prove to herself that she is no longer attracted to her. Strung along by guilt and desire, Jamie agrees to the preposterous plan of “dating” Jill so that Jill can close this chapter of her life and move forward with men. Meanwhile, David and Lola compete for the affections of José, a sexually ambiguous and seductive man from Brazil, and they compare notes on their differing opinions of his sexuality.

As complications arise with Jill and Jamie’s relationship, Jill starts to see José as her ticket out. However, when the love triangles shift and realign, Jamie starts having her own identity crisis that she is ill-equipped to handle. A mix of over-the-top comedy, sharp wit, and pathos, Heterosexual Jill rides the edge of laughter and pain, desire and repression, and explores the complicated attachment to one’s sense of self in the face of love.

Butch Jamie is a quirky, gender-bending comedy about an out-of-work butch lesbian actress willing to try almost anything for a role. Dressing up femme for auditions, struggling actress Jamie Klein continually faces rejection as she fails to be a typical leading lady. Spurred on by her roommate Lola’s successful cat actor, Jamie decides to take a different approach and audition as herself – aka “Butch Jamie.” This ends up landing her a part as a man, and despite the offense that she takes in being offered a male role, she accepts.  The plot thickens as “Male Jamie” unintentionally peaks the interests of Jill, a sexy yet straight woman on set.

Sexy 18-year-old gang member, Cal (Wayne Virgo) lives a life of drugs, sex hookups and random acts of violence – all the whole, concdaling his true gay identity. As the film begins, Cal hooks up with an anonymous stranger that temporarily satisfies his cravings, but fails to quell lust for his best friend, Jonno (Tom Bott). Nessa (Alice Payne), their foul-mouthed, controlling gang leader, suspects that there is something sexual between the boys, but she can’t prove it, so she tries to split the two apart. Cal begins to drift away from the gang as his true self emerges. The gang violently attack a gay cutie, Olivier (Marc Laurent) but Cal decides to make his break from the gang official by giving Oliver a chance to escape. Ignoring Nessa’s vile taunts, Cal follows Olivier and takes him to safety. The two young men then plot their revenge, which quickly leads to lust and then love. Shank is a very real, edgy and raw British drama played out on the streets of Bristol.
