Object of the Day

Today’s object of the day is another interesting curiosity from the collection. This horsehide lap robe (Object ID: 1995.090.001) belonged to donor Kristofer L. Thomsen’s grandfather, N. P. Niels Peter Thomsen. N.P. Niels was born in Omaha, Nebraska.  

According to the object’s provenance, N. P. Niels used “his pet horse” until the day he died. 

The animal hair boxes in collections storage always provide some interesting finds!
