Getting disconnected?
Well...I'm afraid there is some kind of bug affecting the server that causes people who are far away from spawn to disconnect. It seems like Minecraft added a feature that disconnects people if they fail to load a chunk in a certain amount of time. We turned this feature off on the server, so it no longer shuts the whole thing down - but it still continues to effect individual games.
So what does this mean?
If you're getting disconnected a lot - Suck it up and build near spawn.
My guess is part of the problem is that large biomes are on, but IDK Beeez. Sorry guys, with the Microsoft buy out at Mojang this might be a problem for awhile. If you have suggestions or solutions, please comment and we'll open it up for discussion.
ABOUT THE BUY OUT: (Because while I'm here)
We've been running Slothrulia for over 2 years as a free survival server that is super laid back and welcoming to anyone over 18 that doesn't want to play with children. A big part of Minecraft for us is the free play style and ability to make Minecraft be whatever you want it to be.
We will continue to run the server until one of 3 things happen:
1. the ancient Vista machine running the server shits out and dies
2. Microsoft does something to limit or destroy the free spirit that makes Minecraft an awesome game
3. Microsoft forces "Realms" or makes Minecraft a cash cow they milk for player dollars. (IDK about merch, but i'm not paying for the game again.)
One of this things Minecraft has taught me is how long I'm willing to walk in one direction with no reward and no promise of a reward.
