Part 2 of my favorites from the VIP Preview of Art Basel Hong Kong a couple days ago, The art fair has two halls/floors and 240 exhibiting galleries!
1 - Tim Yip, Lili, large-scale installation, Asprey Studio.
2 - Teppei Takeda, Painting of painting 080(2026), acrylic and oil on paper, wood panel, Mahogany Kubota Gallery.
3 - BottoDAO, Botto, Mirror Stages (2026). Spot a certain someone 👀 I love that my attributes are “interest, calmness, amusement, love, and joy” (as opposed to some people getting “confusion, doubt, concentration, boredom”)
4 - Suzann Victor, City Lantern (2025), Gajah.
5 - Personal invitation to the Opening Reception celebrating the launch of the Ray-Ban Lounge in the foyer of the Collectors Lounge (a lounge within a lounge and an event within an event) with a live performance by Kwonny. Not pictured: the champagne and hors d’oeuvres, and yet another tote bag (and I could’ve gotten a poster too but it was huge haha). Thank you Ray-Ban and Art Basel for the invite! The folks crossing off names at the entrance were amazed that I’d come all this way from the US 😅
6 - Alison Friend, Cute Pete (2025), oil on linen, Kaikai Kiki.
7 - Ari Bayuaji, Weaving the Ocean, Mizuma. An ongoing community-based project born of the artist’s discovery of plastic fishing ropes entangled in the mangroves along the Bali coastline. Collaborating with local artisans and traditional weavers, Bayuaji transforms the discarded plastic into vibrant nylon threads, which are meticulously woven into textile works that balance fragility and resilience.
8 - Dhewadi Hadjab, Untitled (2024), oil on canvas, Mennour.
9 - Tasaki Taro, Rabbit Lion (2026), ceramic, glaze, Mizuma Art Gallery.
10 - Atsushi Kaga, Endless Winter. Between the Herons and The Wheelchair (2025), acrylic on linen, mother’s tankstation. I always look forward to seeing this artist and this gallery ever since I first came across them in 2012 in Miami: https://artistsonthelam.blogspot.com/2012/12/notes-from-underground-art-scene.html
[Edit: Thank you to Asprey Studio for accepting my invite to be a collaborator on my Instagram photos and to Miler Lagos for sharing my photo in your IG stories!]

I used my ‘Coffee Notes’ illustration series to create this wall mural concept, showcasing how my work can be applied on a larger scale in a site-specific environment.
'Coffee Notes' is a collection of self-initiated illustrations celebrating coffee culture. Vibrant hues and playful shapes create a lively, inviting atmosphere.

The group installation | layered structures
I’m incredibly satisfied with the outcome of this brief. Especially given that the majority of this installation was put up and made in 3 hours.
Starting from next week, we’ll begin to experiment with different drawing techniques with inspiration from our installation for a maximum of about 25 hours. This is why it was crucial that our piece be visually stimulating.
(close ups and progression under cut:)
