In 2019, the Guinness World Record holder for the largest man-made lagoon at approximately 23.9 acres, is Citystars Sharm El Sheikh, located in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. Opened in 2015, more than 66 million gallons of filtered sea water (saltwater) to fill up, took 21 days to complete. The salt water supply comes from wells in the desert, unusable desert aquifers. Only eight feet deep, it offers a range of water sports, including paddle-boarding, kayaking, and sailing.
