J.J. Jackson - Bow Down To The Dollar (1970)
Soul singer J.J. Jackson’s big hit was It’s Alright released in 1966. Strangely enough it was recorded in the UK. In 1969-70, he returned to England reuniting with the musicians who had backed him on his hit. This is from his second LP during that time, J.J.’s Dilemma, and it’s a stomping bit of political soul written by Larry Weiss (Rhinestone Cowboy - yeah, I know)
You can buy a rifle, no one’s gonna stop you
Glen Campbell’s version of “Rhinestone Cowboy” was released on 26 May 1975.
Larry Weiss had released the original version of his song a year earlier, without much commercial notice, but Campbell heard the song and was eager to record it.
Campbell’s version was an immediate success, hitting the #1 spots on both the Billboard “Hot 100” and “Country” charts, the first time since 1961 a song had topped both charts at the same time. “Rhinestone Cowboy” would be the 2nd best-selling singe of 1975.
It was nominated for “Record of the Year” and “Best Country Song” but did not receive a Grammy Award (”Love Will Keep Us Together” and “(Hey Won't You Play) Another Somebody Done Somebody Wrong Song“ received the respective awards).
Larry Weiss is, perhaps, the greatest living American:
He invented both Underoos and Fruity Pebbles.
And Cocoa Pebbles, and Hungry Jack pancake mix, and the automated postage service machine, and...
Seriously, the man's a genius. See more here.

Full song lyrics: Larry Weiss - Brand New Life
Theres a time for love and a time for living So take a chance and face the wind An open road and a road thats hidden Brand new life around the bend There were times, I lost a dream or two Found the trail, and at the end was you Theres a path you take and a path not taken The choice is up to yo…
