Fort Campbell, Kentucky
On December 22, at Fort Campbell, the very last group of soldiers that had been stationed in Iraq came home. There were about 100 soldiers on the plane ride, who were all anxious to see their families. Afterward, the soldiers had a ceremony for their time overseas and honoring their heroism and bravery.
It comes down to not being home after 3,285 days (9 years) and finally home. Although about 4,500 soldiers will not be returning home ever again, Americans will remember those that gave their lives to keep their country safe.
