Last Hearth is the seat of House Umber in the North. It lies close to the Gift in a forest east of the kingsroad. It is north of the Last River, northeast of Long Lake, and west of the Bay of Seals. With the exception of the castles of the Night's Watch, Last Hearth is the northernmost major castle of the Seven Kingdoms.

Random S8 speculation...
In the revamped opening credits, the only locations we see are the broken Wall, Winterfell, King’s Landing... and Last Hearth.
Why Last Hearth?
Yes, in 8x01 it’s where Tormund and Dolorous Edd meet up and poor little Ned Umber gets taken out; but they don’t have a single shot of it in 8x02, but LH is featured in the opening anyway.
So what’s so important about Last Hearth?
Two theories:
1) As the camera sweeps almost at ground-level from the Wall to LH to Winterfell, the tiles of the ‘ground’ flip over from white to ice blue. Could we be following the Night King’s march from the POV of his armies?
It ends at King’s Landing (after swooping down from the burning sun again) because all roads lead to the Iron Throne, and ‘it all ends #for the throne’
But that’s kind of simplistic, and, y’know, sensible. So in the interests of wild fandom speculation (because that’s where all the fun stuff comes out)...
2) Last Hearth is important for another reason. Is it because this is where the Night King will fall? Is it because the Dance of Dragons 2.0 will take place above it? (LH isn’t very far from Winterfell as the dragon flies, after all)
...because if a Northern fortress needs to be reduced to ash to defeat the NK or even D*ny the Fire-mad, I vote for the Dreadfort.
