Last Savior - Prologue
Torrential rain echoed in the cold night..... Amidst countless trees that crowded in the forest, stood a luxurious mansion. The mansion, a western styled building of medieval architecture was surrounded by a huge, beautifully groomed garden. Not a single star could be seen, due to clouds hiding the night sky. And in the torrential rain was a mansion ----- engulfed in flames. "...We were a family, we were all supposed to be happy." murmured a man in a tuxedo standing on a wide marble balcony, looking down at the blazing garden. His wet bangs stuck to his forehead, and rain fell onto his depressed shoulders. As the smell of oil swept throughout the area, the blaze grew stronger, burning everything from buildings to plants despite the rain still pouring. The smell most likely came from the "enemy's" flame thrower attack. The fire had already reached the man's mansion and was unlikely to slow down until it had burnt down everything. Right behind the man lingering on the balcony, stood his wife who was soaked, just like the man. She, who was in a dress, placed her forehead onto his lonely back, and as if out of sheer love moved her lips. "...You did nothing wrong." said the wife forgivingly and gently stroked his back which had lost all hope. Everything that happened was ----- just an unspeakable tragedy. A tragedy that began with a fate determined by destiny. For the survival of his clan, the man worked like a madman, and as a result this "creation" was made, yet it was what lead to the destruction of his clan. Even though he had believed in using it for good intentions with all his power, it changed into the most evil of intentions. Even though he had endured all that hardship, the man's eyes had already changed, so it went. "....Our daughter, do you think she managed to successfully escape?" The woman, smiled sadly as she leaned on the man's back and murmured "She'll be fine" "Kurōni is helping us, she will definitely be able to escape successfully with his help. We should stay like this, and try to buy as much time as possible for that girl." "That was all, there was nothing more she could do...How are we so powerless, despite being adults." "We ... didn't become good parents, did we?" "As a father, I wasn't able to do anything. I think I've done something unforgivable to that girl." The two snuggled, both smiling sadly together. Thinking about their love for one another and companionship till this day, and the happy memories made of smiles. The conversation slowly died, and the sound of the rain was all that they could hear. Suddenly the wall right next to the couple crumbled, and a huge shadow came flying out from inside. Under the cold, rainy darkness, the crimson flames from the garden, illuminated the giant. The figure was 3 meters in height ----- with the appearance of a steel bodied mantis. As the concrete wall was broken down from inside the building, two figures could be seen running away from the balcony. The mantis stretched out a giant, sharp scythe and prepared for battle. "... An intelligent monster with a metal body, huh." The steel mantis looked up at the man who was asserting an expressionless look. From behind the wall that the mantis broke, a latecomer's shadow could be seen walking out. [-----Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, right?] announced the shadow with it's feminine voice as it walked onto the balcony. As expected, like the mantis, the shadow was illuminated by the flames revealing her appearance. She was equipped with heavy metal armour. Bluish white European knight armour like gauntlets and shoulder guards were protecting her limbs. There was not even the smallest of exposed areas. Clad in all that armour, the figure looked just like a machine that had taken human form. In her right hand was something similar to what the Grim reaper would carry ----- a giant scythe. The woman clad in armour continued, [If I recall correctly, that was one of Clarke's three laws. Thus the metal armour that you and your clan created can be called magic, if appropriate. To allow our plans to surpass these limits... your technological skill certainly is fearsome.] After listening to the armoured woman, the wife quickly retaliated with a threatening attitude, "...Our clan already fulfilled its duty. You promised that our clan could return to your society if we could obtain that power. So why... why do you treat us like this...?!" The armoured woman shrugged, [Your clan's efforts have been approved, but i'm afraid that you can not be accepted back as fellow kinsman. That is the law of our blood. It is impossible for us to recognise people of impure blood like yours as members of our family.] The wife couldn't do anything but bite down as the woman reported it like it was natural. "You never intended to keep the promise right from the start... you cruel people!" [We have long stopped being people. We are angels, Aions!] Despite receiving a front-on glare, the armoured woman merely brushed it off and sighed. [As long as you do not give us the "Pleroma", you can do nothing but stay on this land. However, there is a danger of you spreading your technological prowess amongst humanity... Well, in that case there's no helping it. We have made the decision, your entire clan will perish right here.] "How egotistic...!" [...Yes, well] admitted the armoured woman honestly and continued. [We seized all of the data that your clan researched and also anything of importance. That's why we killed all the people held at your underground laboratory, all your assistants and workers, before taking over the lab. Having your research will allow our operation to eliminate humanity begin more efficiently. Well, at least your clan's efforts might continue as legend of sorts ----- Something like "The people who ended earth".] And with the end of the woman's words, the monster mantis which was silent until this point started moving. It was as if it waited, timing for the woman to stop talking. "...Manipulating the monster with a "Blood hack", huh" murmured the man with a hateful look. [Exactly. Like the genetic inheritance you have, it's a forbidden power, right?] As the armoured woman talked, the steel mantis slowly crawled up to the man and his wife. In front of the couple stood the mantis with his arms raised high, holding a giant scythe. The couple prepared for death as they looked up at the scythe with despair. The sharp scythe that could easily penetrate both of their skulls claiming their lives. The two embraced each other quietly, bracing themselves for the death blow. "... In the end, it seems like like I couldn't make you happy." "That's not true." denied the wife as she cried silently. "If I'm ever reborn, I'll do whatever i can to be with you again. I'll become your wife, grow old with you. That's why I think ----- that the days up till now were the happiest in my life." The also man shed a tear, and embraced his crying wife. "... Thank you" The raised scythe of despair came down. "At the very least, I wanted to see how she would grow up, how she would look like; just one glance would be fine." "Please... grow up strong... live happily..." The sharp scythe sliced through their flesh, and sank deep into the marble floor. Fresh flowing blood dirtied the marble top, flowing away with the rainwater. The armoured woman stared at the two who just breathed their last and let out a small sigh. [There's still a daughter, huh... geez, finding her will take a bit more effort I suppose.] The already torrential rain, started pouring ever more fierce. The woman who carried the burden of 'death' on her shoulders began walking with her cold armoured figure, avoiding the blood. The destination that lies ahead, is a future of unbelievable slaughter.
