it'd  been  about  a  week  now  since  he  was  at  the  infirmary  last;  he'd  needed  emergency  help  before  he  shot  someone.  not  that  he  supported  shooting  group  members,  but  he'd  been  close  to  flipping  at  the  time.  he'd  been  treated  by  the  other  doc;  grant  &  he  was  doing  great  right  now,  but  he  also  knew  that  it  wasn't  going  to  last  &  he  promised  to  go  see  ethan  about  professional  help  sooner  ....rather  than  later.  elijah  preferred  later,  but  grant  ..did  not.  so  he'd  caved  &  found  ethan  at  the  infirmary.

he  felt  so  silly  when  he  stepped  inside,  sheepish  little  smile  on  his  face,  one  hand  up  &  brushing  through  the  curls  on  the  back  of  his  head.  "uhhhh,  hey  -  you  uh,  got  a  sec  for  me,  doc?"  he  could  always  come  back  later,  but  he'd  rather  get  the  man's  opinion  before  he  was  in  agony  once  more  &  maybe  -  if  he  had  any  idea  how  to  help  him,  get  that  going  in  time.

Honey I'm hooooome, rang the sweet bell of the successful raiding party returning home with their spoils of the day. Another successful day of watching over some experienced, some helpless fools alike out on the dangerous run down wasteland. It was a lot more up close than his not-so-long-ago days in the Marines when he used to be an urban sniper, but war has changed. Still, there has never been a time where a trained eye and unerring aim is so needed. Bringing home the bacon & booze, so to speak, Maverick struts in with the rest of the raiding party, all smiles and upturned chin. His bag is packed fucking full of clinking glass bottles, a merry jingle as he walks by that lets everyone know he's got the good stuff. It is taken away by the survivors working the kitchen, to be stored away in the group's storage stash, but not before Maverick slipped in his own little treat. From storage, it is just short walk around the office building until he's in the makeshift infirmary where his favorite doctor's on duty at this time. Well, there's only two of you, so it's kind of a toss up, but hey, let him charm ya like that.

Barging in by pushing the door open with his booted feet, then walking in with hands behind his back looking mighty innocently suspect. "Ayy, Doc..." wiggle of his brows lets him know he's up to no good. "I'm losin' lotta, lotta blood. I need a, uhh, I dunno, fluids? real bad. Git the shot glasses ready, stat!" Hands coming into light from out behind him, unveiling a Jack Daniels whiskey bottle--big one, too. Figured they'd shop in bulk from the stores, that normally goes unsold. Jack was pretty standard fare back in the day, but in the apocalypse, it may as well be liquid gold. "Just what the doctor ordered."

abrasive;  grumpy;  antagonistic;  disagreeable.

there  were  so  many  ways  he  could  be  described  these  days  and,  honestly,  they  all  fit.  he  hadn't  always  been  like  this  though.  it  might  come  as  a  shock  but  he  was  once,  actually,  considered  a  people  person.

charming  even;  kind;  personable;  reliable.

funny  how  quickly  he  changed  after  he  had  to  bury  most  of  the  people  that  knew  he  could  be  soft.  he  promised  himself  he'd  never  let  anyone  see  him  like  that  again;  he  buried  that  tenderness  alongside  them  years  ago.  yet  there  he  was,  lingering  outside  the  infirmary  looking  for  ethan;  looking  for  familiarity;  looking  for  that  fleeting  feeling  of  companionship  and  belonging,  though  he  would  never  admit  that  was  why  he  always  seemed  to  be  around  the  other.

"you  were  a  bit  handsy  with  that  last  one.  was  that  all strictly  medical  or  has  it  just  been  too  long?"  he  commented  under  his  breath  after  one  of  their  fellow  survivors  shuffled  past  him  after  coming  to  see  ethan  about  some  kind  of  pain  they  were  feeling  in  their  leg;  and  while  his  tone  might  have  been  even,  and  almost  cold,  for  a  brief  second  there  was  a  smirk  lingering  on  his  lips  that  reminiscent  of  the  man  that  teased  his  friends.
