okay so I’d imagine they’ve been raised by their distant relatives as their parents are deceased. they don’t know this but THEY are the cause of their parents’ death, due to powers they obtained somehow when they were 4.
no one told them how exactly their parents died, just “car crash” but your relatives have ever so slightly distanced themselves from them.
