This is a retelling of the Final Chapter from Lateria’s perspective!
My only note is that in the original chapters both MC and Lateria think “愛しい” about each other so that line is the same in both versions of the chapter and I think that’s cute
Moon Secret Episode: Fragile and Selfish
My family’s actions must have been caused by my own weakness…
(I couldn’t understand my sister’s intentions, I couldn’t even notice what Dakure was planning…)
(But…)
I felt like my heart would break out of sympathy for them.
OO: “Lateria-san…”
My name escaped OO’s lips, her voice filled with concern.
It felt like she was shining a light into my heart.
(I’m such an unworthy prince…)
(I’m just a fragile, weak, ordinary man.)
Lateria: “Right now, can you just call me Lateria?”
OO: “Eh…?”
Lateria: “Please, OO.”
My request came out sounding desperate.
OO: “...Lateria.”
Lateria: “...Thank you.”
The kindness in her voice warmed my heart, but it was painful too.
(...OO.)
Though I knew I was acting disgraceful, I couldn’t keep up appearances any longer.
I gave into my desires and hugged OO.
Lateria: “Not as a prince, but as Lateria… just for now, let me confess my weakness to you.”
All my life I tried to strictly control myself.
I put all of my effort into being the perfect prince.
But…
(I neglected the people I was closest to… my sister, and Dakure…)
I held her tighter.
Then she embraced me, too. She placed her gentle hand on my back.
Lateria: “Thank you… I feel calmer when I hold you.”
I could feel her heartbeat against my chest.
The steady sound magically calmed me down.
OO: “Lateria-san… Are you alright?”
I pulled away from her just enough to see her pale face.
(Are you cold? Or tired...?)
(Even as a man, not a prince… for someone I care for to look at me like that…)
(I feel so pathetic that I could die.)
Lateria: “OO, your face is so pale.”
OO: “Is it? Yours is…”
(Despite my worries, she was still breathtaking.)
She stared at me in silence for a moment, then placed a hand against her chest.
(...OO?)
No matter how long I stared back at her, I couldn’t understand her intentions.
Lateria: “Are you not feeling well?”
OO: “That’s not it…”
(Then… why?)
I wanted to ask her, but I was almost too afraid to hear the answer.
I put my hand over my face to hide my confused feelings, but then I remembered something.
Lateria: “That’s right… I got you this.”
Lateria: “I wanted to give it to you as thanks, but with everything that happened I didn’t get a chance.”
It was a pale red lipstick.
Lateria: “OO, look this way.”
OO: “...?”
I brushed some of the color onto her lips with my thumb.
When I did that, her cheeks went red as well.
Lateria: “I knew this red would suit you. And your complexion has improved too.”
OO: “...I see.”
Lateria: “Ah, the color is so glossy… it’s charming.”
I couldn’t resist any longer and gently kissed her.
Lateria: “OO…”
(The reality is that I’m such a foolish man… aren’t you disappointed?)
(Still… I can’t resist.)
(The comfort of someone who accepts me.)
Lateria: “With you, I can expose everything about myself... even this selfishness. I want you to show me everything too.”
Then...
OO: “...I will.”
She barely finished her sentence before I kissed her again, more intensely.
OO: “Late...ria…-san…”
Lateria: “Just Lateria.”
I placed more kisses on her lips and neck…
(I want to know all of you...)
OO: “...!”
I untied her ribbon, opening the collar of her shirt to kiss her collarbone.
My lips left a mark of her lipstick on the spot.
Lateria: “I’m sorry… this wasn’t my intention in asking to stay…”
(Even though I didn’t plan it… I can’t help but be satisfied that things turned out this way.)
(OO… my princess.)
OO: “Lateria…”
(Lovely...)
The chill of the air confirmed that the ice crystals still shone upon Amarena.
(When I’m in front of everyone, I promise to be a respectable prince again.)
I don’t have any notes on this one except that this is the chapter that confirmed he was my favorite Yume100 character lol. His moon route is so melodramatic and fun
Moon Final Chapter: Transfer of Lipstick
Lateria-san, who had just sentenced his sister and nephew for their attempted destruction of the kingdom, was in terrible pain.
Lateria: “Please, may I be with you a little longer…”
He had just escorted me back to my room, but had hesitated to leave.
(I can’t leave him alone in this state…)
OO: “Sure…”
I invited him into the room, and once he entered…
We walked out to the balcony and looked down at the lights of Amarena.
Lateria: “How can I atone for the sins of the royal family…”
OO: “I don’t think you need to atone for anything.”
Lateria: “The members of the royal family are all responsible for one another’s actions. Besides, Dakure put the whole country in danger to get rid of me. He threatened the lives of our people… I have to take responsibility.”
Lateria-san stroked the ring he wore, a symbol of Amarena’s royal family.
Lateria: “And when it came to my sister… I couldn’t do anything.”
OO: “Lateria-san…”
(I want to console him, but I don’t know what to say.)
As I tried to find the right words, he turned his sad smile towards me.
Lateria: “And now I’ve made you look so sad.”
OO: “Lateria-san… um…”
Lateria: “Right now, can you just call me Lateria?”
OO: “Eh…?”
Lateria: “Please, OO.”
His request was so sincere that I quietly responded.
OO: “...Lateria.”
Lateria: “...Thank you.”
His voice sounded hoarser than usual, but then he hugged me tightly.
Lateria: “Not as a prince, but as Lateria… just for now, let me confess my weakness to you.”
It was the first time I had heard him sound so helpless. His words reached my heart, so I timidly wrapped my arms around him.
I tenderly stroked his back, wishing I could alleviate some of his pain.
(My heart aches for him...)
Lateria: “Thank you… I feel calmer when I hold you.”
The arms that were embracing me so tightly relaxed into a gentle hug.
Lateria: “I’m so sorry.”
Pulling away slightly, Lateria-san looked down at me.
OO: “Lateria-san… Are you alright?”
Lateria: “OO, your face is so pale.”
OO: “Is it? Yours is…”
I got that far before taking a moment to look at him.
(So beautiful…)
Lateria’s face was illuminated by the moon as it shone through the clouds, giving him an ephemeral quality.
For some reason I felt a tightness in my chest, and placed my hand against it.
Lateria: “Are you not feeling well?”
OO: “That’s not it…”
Lateria-san looked at me with concern before a realization crossed his face.
Lateria: “That’s right… I got you this.”
He took a small, intricately crafted container out of his pocket.
Lateria: “I wanted to give it to you as thanks, but with everything that happened I didn’t get a chance.”
He removed the lid, revealing a pale red lipstick inside.
Lateria: “OO, look this way.”
OO: “...?”
Lateria-san lifted my chin with his hand, then used his thumb to apply some of the color to my lips.
OO: “...Ah.”
Lateria: “Shh, I can’t apply it well if your lips are moving.”
OO: “...”
I felt my cheeks heat up with a blush and looked away.
Lateria: “I knew this red would suit you. And your complexion has improved too.”
OO: “...I see.”
Lateria-san’s gaze was passionate, but I was too shy to return it.
Lateria: “Ah, the color is so glossy… it’s charming.”
Lateria-san leaned closer and gently kissed me.
When he pulled away, some of my lipstick had transferred to him.
Lateria: “OO…”
When he called my name, my heart started to race.
Lateria: “With you, I can expose everything about myself... even this selfishness. I want you to show me everything too.”
OO: “...I will.”
As soon as I answered…
OO: “Nn…”
The kiss was deeper this time, as if he were trying to learn more about me this way.
OO: “Lat...eria…-san…”
Lateria: “Just Lateria.”
He kept kissing me, my lips, my neck…
(So warm…)
And then his graceful fingers untied the ribbon on my blouse.
OO: “...!”
He left kisses on the skin revealed by the now-loosened collar of my shirt.
Lateria: “Sorry… this wasn’t my intention in asking to stay…”
OO: “Ah…”
The red lipstick had now transferred from his lips to my chest.
I thought it seemed like a secret symbol for just the two of us.
OO: “Lateria…”
When I said his name, he gave me an honest smile.
(What a lovely smile…)
Amarena’s nights are a little bit cold, but the sweet emotions that had been growing in my heart mixed with Lateria’s warmth, and I let myself melt into that comfort.
I feel like the moon route is kind of confusing sometimes but I’m not really sure how to contextualize and explain things without the translation being really inaccurate, so I’m sorry about that. I just kind of left everything as it is. Lateria’s sister’s motivation isn’t very clear but I think she just loves her son and resents Lateria so she sides with Dakure even though she knows what he’s doing is wrong.
Moon Chapter 9: The Responsibility He Bears
Alongside his sister, Lateria-san and I went to the entrance of the dungeon.
Lateria: “Take her inside.”
He told a soldier who had been waiting for orders.
Soldier: “Yes sir.”
Conducting herself with dignity, Lateria’s sister followed the soldier without hesitation.
The moment she was out of sight, Lateria let out a deep sigh.
Lateria: “She must have known what her son was doing all along… there were traces that someone else tried to pray at the altar.”
OO: “What?”
---
OO: “Yes, I’m so relieved. Only Prince Lateria could have done it.”
Lateria: “Sure, my powers are said to be the strongest, but…”
---
Lateria: “Communing with the ice crystals isn’t a power exclusive to me, the whole royal family has that ability. So it must have been my sister, but she didn’t have enough power. Maybe she’s been suffering this whole time…”
Lateria-san’s face contorts with sadness again, and he rests his forehead against his hand.
Lateria: “I thought I had the strength to lead this country, but if this is the outcome…”
OO: “Lateria-san…”
Lateria: “I’m really pathetic.”
The anger in his face makes my heart ache.
Lateria: “I didn’t notice the pain my sister and Dakure were experiencing, I couldn’t reach out to them… And then I sent them to the dungeon for their crimes. But really, all of it is my fault.”
(That’s not true.)
As a prince, as a younger brother… Lateria-san must be torn between those responsibilities.
Lateria’s sister is legitimately very cool and not evil so I kind of wish she got a better ending. In my ideal world Lateria gets an After Story version that wraps up all the loose ends from this story and maybe redeems his family.
Moon Chapter 8: Trembling Arms
Lateria-san had decided to pass judgement on his sister and nephew who attempted a rebellion.
Lateria: “OO, I’m going to another part of the palace to arrest my sister. I’ve had another room prepared for you. I’ll also assign you a guard, so please rest assured.”
OO: “Lateria-san…”
His arm, still supporting my shoulder, was shaking slightly.
---
“And now you will see me judge my own family.”
---
Lateria-san truly doesn’t want that…
Lateria: “Please escort the princess to her room.”
OO: “Please, wait!”
In spite of myself, I interrupted Lateria-san as he gave orders to the servants.
Lateria: “OO…?”
OO: “Me too, um…”
I wasn’t able to gather my thoughts well.
(I don’t know what I can do for him, but…)
(I don’t want to leave Lateria-san alone.)
While I was looking for the right words to explain, Lateria-san smiled at me as if he already understood.
Lateria: “Ah, OO…”
Suddenly Lateria-san kissed my forehead.
OO: “...!”
My heart started to pound.
Lateria: “You have given me so much courage. If you don’t mind, will you come with me? No, I mean to say that I want you by my side.”
OO: “Yes... of course.”
And so we headed to the part of the castle where his sister lived.
The indigo sky was covered with clouds, blocking out the stars.
Lateria-san’s sister lived in the eastern wing of the castle.
Lateria: “Excuse me, sister.”
Lateria’s sister: “Ah, Lateria.”
She was leaning back and relaxing on a sofa, and she smiled at our arrival.
Lateria’s sister: “You were alive.”
Lateria: “Yes, I suppose this greeting is overdue. I apologize for any problems during my absence.”
I watched the two interact from behind, until his sister spotted me and interrupted the conversation.
Lateria’s sister: “And this young lady is… the Princess of Traumere?”
OO: “Yes, I am OO.”
OO: “It is nice to meet you.”
Lateria’s sister: “Thank you for saving my brother.”
She laughed, and I saw that her beautiful face resembled Lateria-san’s quite closely.
(Such a beautiful and kind person… could she really have…?)
I could sense no hatred or resentment towards Lateria-san in her perfect smile.
But…
Dakure had said she was the cause of the day’s events.
Lateria: “Sister.”
Lateria’s sister: “I already know what you’re going to say.”
She stood up and walked past Lateria-san, giving him a resolute look.
Lateria’s sister: “Did you think I would get upset? Start yelling and cursing you?”
Lateria: “No… you’ve never been one for disgraceful behavior.”
Lateria’s sister: “That’s right.”
Lateria: “Sister, why… Why didn’t you try to save the country? If you wanted to inherit the throne, why abandon the country and our people?”
Lateria’s words were more unfiltered and emotional than I had ever heard him.
But…
Lateria’s sister: “I know what happens next. Take me to the dungeon.”
She ignored his pleas and kept walking.
Lateria: “...”
She left the room, and the two of us followed.
I felt all the hurt and sadness as I looked at Lateria-san’s pained face.
And with this the whole sun route story is posted! Secret stories are from the prince’s PoV and usually just retell the final chapter, but some have completely new scenes like this one does.
Sun Secret Story: The Heat of Jealousy
Some time after the events at the castle…
With OO’s help, the people within the castle had regained our peace of mind.
That day, I went to visit my nephew… Dakure, the one who had caused all the trouble.
Lateria: “Are you recovering?”
Dakure: “...Your Highness.”
Lateria: “This is a get-well gift from OO… for you. Should we use these to decorate the room?”
Servant: “I’ll take care of it.”
Soon Dakure’s bedroom was covered in pretty white flowers.
Dakure: “A gift for the man who put her in harm’s way… The princess is kind no matter what.”
Lateria: “Ah, she’s a wonderful woman. Selfless and brave… as pure as these flowers.”
I pictured her smile until Dakure’s laughter snapped me back to reality.
Dakure: “Hah, she’s completely stolen your heart.”
Dakure had picked up on my feelings immediately, and my face heated up in embarrassment.
I tried to cover my nerves with a cough.
Then…
Dakure: “If my mother had been more like her…”
Lateria: “Dakure…”
The words Dakure had muttered were filled with regret.
---
Lateria: “Are you worried about something?”
OO: “I’m worried about Dakure…”
---
(If OO hadn’t said anything then, Dakure would be…)
I sighed and turned away from him.
Lateria: “I have to go. OO will be expecting me soon.”
Dakure: “...”
Dakure stared silently at the flowers.
…
……
The sun shone down upon me as I rushed to our meeting place.
Lateria: “I’m sorry I made you wait.”
OO: “Lateria-san.”
OO looked up at me with a beautiful smile that I assumed was for me.
OO: “How is Dakure-san doing?”
But she anxiously asked about Dakure.
Lateria: “He’s recovering well.”
She sighed with relief, then her adorable smile returned.
(Jeez…)
Her expression made both love and irritation swirl in my heart.
(If you make such a face for him… I’ll get jealous.)
Lateria: “...”
---
Lateria: “OO, you’re worried about the man who threatened your life.”
OO: “I’m so sorry, Lateria-san… but I don’t want you to have a hard time.”
---
Back then, my shameful jealousy almost led to an irreparable situation…
(In front of her… I won’t make that mistake again.)
Lateria: “Thank you… my only nephew would have died without you.”
OO: “I didn’t do everything…”
Lateria: “You are a benefactor for all of Amarena.”
I took her hands in mine and conveyed my honest gratitude.
OO: “Such praise… I’m happy.”
Her dainty hands were slightly warm against my own.
…
……
A bit later, we arrived at the best gelato shop in town.
Lateria: “That’s a new flavor, how does it taste?”
She took a bite of the cute pink gelato.
OO: “It’s delicious!”
Lateria: “Lately we’ve been planning a new ice cream in collaboration with Solitude and Shalyart.”
OO: “Really? I’ll look forward to it!”
Her innocent smile sways my heart once again.
(I’m still such a helpless man…)
Lateria: “But… it’s not as fun when you’re interested in the ice cream from other countries.”
OO: “Eh…?”
Lateria: “Look, your gelato is already melting.”
OO: “Ah!!”
Impulsively I put a finger to her chin.
I tilted her face to look towards me and placed a kiss upon it.
OO: “La- Lateria-san!!”
Her face turned red as she called my name in protest.
Lateria: “Oh, I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to.”
(She’s adorable…)
Her beautiful eyes, that red-faced expression…
(I hope that expression will continue to be mine alone.)
These ugly jealous feelings may never disappear completely…
The heat in my chest seemed to melt Amarena’s gelato…
Probably my least favorite CG and final chapter of Lateria’s stories but that’s ok the next chapter is really good!
Sun Final Chapter: Instead of Gelato
After that…
Thanks to Lateria-san, Dakure-san had only been able to drink a small amount of poison. He lay in bed where the doctor tended to him.
Lateria: “How is Dakure?”
Doctor: “His condition is stable. We’ve given him an antidote and the vomiting will subside in time.”
Lateria: “I see…”
(Thank goodness…)
Lateria: “Make sure Dakure is taken care of. Never let him out of your sight. We should station someone in the room with him and someone guarding the door.”
Guard: “Yes, sir.”
Listening to Lateria-san take the lead of the situation, I finally felt I could relax.
…
A few days later…
Things inside the castle had finally started to settle down.
Lateria-san invited me to accompany him into the capital city of Amarena again.
(It’s a beautiful day...)
Lateria: “It was just the other day we went out for gelato, yet it feels like forever since we’ve had a moment to relax, just the two of us.”
(We’ve been so busy this whole time...)
Lateria: “I’m sorry you were dragged into all of this, I hope today will brighten your mood.”
His smile was kind and gentle, yet it caused a pain in my heart.
(Lateria-san, you can let it show that you’re tired…)
I looked up at him and our eyes met. He looked at me so gently.
OO: “!!”
He took my breath away, and my heart started to race as I stood next to him.
(I didn’t realize he was looking at me too…)
Lateria: “OO, I was able to save my nephew thanks to you. No, even more than that, everything worked out because you were with me.”
OO: “Ah, I didn’t…”
Embarrassed, I tried to shy away, but he cupped my cheek in his hand.
Lateria: “Don’t look away…”
OO: “But… it’s embarrassing…”
Lateria: “You seem so dainty, but… when we were in a crisis, you were so brave.”
OO: “I… was brave?”
Lateria: “Yes, you’re such a brave woman.”
OO: “No one has ever said that to me before.”
Though being threatened with a knife by Dakure-san had been a terrifying experience.
OO: “At that time, I was just acting without thinking.”
Lateria: “And when Dakure drank the poison, you called the doctor immediately so he was saved.”
OO: “All that matters is that Dakure-san was okay.”
Lateria: “Yes, despite everything he’s done, he’s my nephew. If something had happened to him I would have regretted it for the rest of my life.”
His words filled me with relief once again. I smiled up at Lateria-san, and he returned it with his own gentle smile.
Lateria: “Wait just a moment.”
He walked off to a gelato shop on the other side of the street.
(It looks like he’s feeling a little better… I wish I could do something for him.)
I thought about this as a comfortingly cool breeze blew through Amarena.
OO: “!”
Suddenly someone from behind put their arm around my shoulder.
Lateria: “Sorry I kept you waiting.”
One of Lateria-san’s hands was on my shoulder, and the other held gelato.
Lateria: “For you. I want you to eat something.”
OO: “But, um… Lateria-san.”
His face was so close to mine I couldn't meet his eye. I fidgeted nervously.
Lateria: “I…”
OO: “!!”
Suddenly I felt something soft on my eyelid.
OO: “La- Lateria-san!?”
Lateria: “You’re so sweet.”
Lateria embraced me, so close I could feel his breath.
Lateria: “But, you’re not just lovely and sweet.”
He leaned closer to me, his eyes narrowing.
I instinctively closed my eyes, and his slightly cool lips kissed my eyelids.
Lateria: “I’m irresistibly drawn to you… please continue to be my dainty and brave princess.”
OO: “Lateria-san…”
Lateria: “With you by my side, I can overcome anything. OO, will you keep supporting me in the future?”
OO: “...Yes…”
I nodded, red-faced, and he placed a kiss on my lips this time.
