A story of never giving up
Continuing my first blog, I had an interesting conversation with a self made millionaire yesterday, who answered this question of mine:
"In an environment where the situation is negative, people are far away from positiveness and personal development, how do you think big?" I asked.
He told me, immediately without even pausing:
"There are two things you can do:
1. Change your blueprint.
2. See the results.
I am not going to comment on the second one as the Blueprint is far more important and relevant.
Your blueprint is all about who you are and who you want to become in the far future. It is what you are made of and what you see yourself like.
Well, I have been thinking about this quite a lot over the last 24 hours. My blueprint is all about NEVER GIVING UP.
You see, for longer than I can remember I have been raised in our family bakery where my parents have been literally working all day and all night. So I had to wake myself up, go to school, do my homework, hang out by the business and do everything else by myself.
I have transfered this concept of doing it all by myself in Football, in being a TV presenter, being a Networker, being an A+ Student and in all other activities of my life.
Today's blogging is about never giving up and let me ask you this:
"How many of you would have given up when you find yourselves in the situation where you have taken over (without knowing) over €500,000 in debt in a hostile economy where the largest bank went bust and most suppliers have changed their credit policies? How many of you would have still continued to carry on your family name and personal dream of owning a business where you believe in, even though some suppliers have used your own kindness and resourcefulness against you in the court of law? How many of you would still continue knowing that you are being watched by multiple eyes and being judged because they simply do not know what you are going through? How many of you would have still keep going on at the times where your close collaborators sue you because you delay their payments?
The answer is very obvious: Not many.
Well, today I have been taken to court by a family company that my family, even myself, have shared dinners, trips and business together over the last 20 years. This family company have been our collaborators for all these years and thought it was best to get their owed money through court rather than personal contact and settlement.
For myself, this is the worst ever case scenario to collect your money simply because when you are taking someone to court, you are literally diminishing their fame, wasting important resources from their lives such as brainpower, patience, legal expenses and their integrity.
Being in a world of courts and lawyers nothing good can come out of, just pain.
Today I was standing for more than 3 hours in a packed room full of "criminals" like myself and a bunch of lawyers. I kept asking myself this question:
"How do I resolve faster this situation I am in and what can I learn from this?"
The answer in my mind was very obvious:
"Shut up and increase your sales, branding and profitability."
Then another answer came up too!
"Have everyone in your business be responsible for the company goals as well as the job. Keep your people close and never let go why they are there. The why is so much more important than the how.
So, being in court multiple times over the last years have created stress, pain, loss of time and shame for myself so far. Depressing right?
NO! What I really got out of all this is that I own my story and I shall end it however me, myself and I want. No lawyer, no family company, no supplier, no judge and no one else shall write my story.
My story is strictly personal and the ending is mine.
So what I really do get out of the situation I am in is that I will never give up. I will be seen in 2020 and people will be like "Because of you I never gave up in my life, in my business, in my relationship".
A quick few tips on how to NEVER give up:
1. Know your blueprint (who you are)
2. Every day is a new start (the reset button is always in your brain)
3. Do not listen to anyone else who is not saying anything positive to you.
4. Keep learning.
5. Keep producing.
6. Keep your belief at high levels even though you see no solutions at the time.
7. Be honest to where you are and where you need to go. Be ready to make changes all the time, till you get it right.
I know that some situations in life can be hard. My life is hard too. I am even ready to go to prison for owing money if its God's will. I am not scared of taking responsibilities in my life. So, in order to keep inspiring myself first, I choose to keep going BUT better, smarter, more experienced, more productive, more efficient and most importantly with more faith!
Live with passion,
Marinos
